This is really good but what's fractal about it?

Pretty all is fractal, there are not painted pixels. Here some big collection - [link]

I didn't go to the link but aren't fractals based on nature in how it repeats its self. Do you have to digitalize the painting so you can display it on the computer screen or in other words you create not paint hence "made"

Your definition is too vague, fractal does not have to represent the nature, although some can create similar structures. It is simply a formula that repeats many times and generates a curve with fractional dimension. So far by combining layers with such formulas, I made my pictures. And one in not obliged to show repetitive structures, it depends of the artist's choice.

Thank you for the information, you learn something every day. Yes I understand fractals and that they can be created with a formula but that's because they were first proven to be in nature and helped in the intelligent design theory. But do you really paint?

I have a traditional art section in my gallery. When I write acrylics on canvas it is so. I'm a traditional artist by education. Fine arts high school and academy of arts later.

This is a stunning piece of work that sets the imagination on fire! The energy and movement created by your use of light and light at the crest of the wave is spectacular. I don't understand how this piece is a fractal though..... Thank you for sharing it with everyone.

Thank you! Oh, it is a fractal as all is created in UltraFractal, no painted pixels. I use what fractal layers extending a bit their properties with PShop blending modes and so to create more atmosphere. Here is my tutorial with some of the techniques I use [link]

He, he can't say, haven't finished yet the Patrick O'Brien books, so don't know about Bolitho, but I like your idea - he should! I'll make soon Cape Horn as well.

Thank you, very nice compliment!!! This is what is exactly my purpose, to make people dream. Our world becomes more and more materialistic and brutal, so I try to add some places for romantic dreams.
