Description Sorry for the crappy background...I'm still figuring out Flash, unfortunately.
((If it doesn't loop, right click and select loop, and, if it's stopped, click play too))
This was the fastest I've ever drawn a run cycle (the initial lineart anyway, not all the shading/bg/etc, that's what took so long) as it took...Maybe...Hm...Only a couple hours to draw? And the first color layer didn't take long either. I think I'm getting better!

I did originally plan on killing your guys' ears by putting a little MIDI music clip in the bg (and it would loop forever and ever~) because...I finally figured out how to make those with a program I have. It's super easy and fun~

Anywaaaay~This is my secret santa gift (through Desukat's SS) to *rebellious-one of her fursona Panda (up front) and her mate Duo (in bg) and I really hope she likes it!

Done in Macromedia Flash 8

Hm the only thing I can really critique on is the face. It seems it needs to be angled in a different way, and the eyes seem a little emotionless but it may just be the style which in that case just ignore me. xD

The perspective is questionable too. And if they are mates I'd imagine they'd be looking at each other instead of just ahead. c: But this is a awesome run cycle and very good background, even if you say its crappy. It's not! I actually enjoy the background the most I think. Those tree's are beautiful!

Ah, yes. This was my first really "complete" animation (with a constant line-width/style), so I was still trying to just get used to the whole coloring and shading thing, and complicating the animation with turned heads and things like that would have been too difficult at the time. |D
I do really appreciate the comments and critiques! Thanks!

This is really great, I love the pushing feeling as the wolves are running onwards.

One thing I can pick out, though, is the the back leg cycle looks a bit off; It looks like the wolf's back legs are rotating together at the hip horizontally, coming directly towards the viewer and then away instead of in line with the rest of his feet.

Also, the wolf in the background; his head inflates and deflates in time with his running. If this was intentional then I'm guessing you were trying to make it look as if he is getting closer to the viewer with every lunge. I think it has to be a little more subtleto work but it also doesn't make much sense as the wolf in the foreground's head does not change size. It's a little distracting.

I love the fact that you have some trees moving past in the background, this creates a great feeling of motion rather than the wolves just running on the spot. The sticks also aid this and give the fore and mid ground more depth.

Great job on the mist, too. This separates the two wolves, gives them some distance. I love the attention to detail with the snow poofing up beneath and around their paws.

I'm interested to see what you come up with as you become more aquainted with Flash e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Yeah, I see what you mean about the legs. They were really awkward to animate at an angle. I think it's the fact that I made the right leg (farthest away from us) pop out to where we could see it in the back, makes it look flat and unrealistic. I'll have to find some running wolves to study it and see. :b

And the background wolf issue was...what was it...
For some reason or another I had to size down every part of the other wolf separately and it was REALLY hard to get that darn face to stay the right size! SO IRRITATING. X'D

And thank you for noticing all the little background details too. I really wish I could figure out how to make a seamless looped background...it would be so much easier...>3>
And thanks again for everything!

I can fully understand how hard it is to animate a run cycle as it is, nevermind at an angle I've attempted walking and run cycles myself... quite difficult

Ahhh alright! Sometimes programs just don't do what we want them to X3

I'm a beginner in flash myself so I don't know what to suggest on the technical side of things I'm sorry :'D

Not a problem!
Keep up the great work!

And silly programs.

I hope you luck in your arts, too~

Ahh~! Thank you for looking! You have an amazing gallery! >u<

Yeah, The background was a sort of last minute thought and I've never animated a moving background before, so...It was difficult for me to even figure out how to get that mist to look somewhat seamless. Getting the ground bits to move in the right direction was even harder. I'm just glad I figured THAT out!

As for anatomy/movement, I'm aware it's not as great as I'd like it to be. I would have LOVED to done more movement, but...as it was a "secret santa" I had a limited amount of time to get it done and just wanted to finish it asap. Didn't get to put as much work in as I would have liked. :c

I'd LOVE to do something new to show everyone that I have improved since then, but...sadly I haven't gotten a chance to do many more awesome animations like this! I'll definitely take your critiques to mind, and use them to improve in my next animation! :'D

Thank you again for looking!

i can say something wrong,it is my first critique, you see

you color, shadow, background it!of course it will be more good if there will be more layers, but it will be too hard to do(i know, true!!!)
now i have only one colored animation with backgrounde.deviantart.net/emoticons/f/f… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Sad)"/>
you are did so good animatione.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

love the colors and background(it is super)wolf anatomy and they motion are great!beautiful colors and this foggy effect
now about rate.i add four stars for originality because it is running cycle(OK, i don't said that i can do better, don't thinke.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)"/>)and run cycles are the most popular animations,
now the end-awesome technique,strongest patiencee.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

Absolutely gorgeous. The animation is simple, yet extremely fluid! No choppiness at all, and very realistic with the motion. And I love those tails.

Its a bit funny though that their faces seem so similar xD <3 still love it!

Yay~Thank you. c:
And yes, in order to meet the "deadline" for the secret santa thing, I was forced to kinda copy and paste the main outline (though some wacky error caused me to have to resize different parts manually, hence the shrinking/growing head 8I) instead of drawing them all awesome and different. Ergh. >3>

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

razrroth In reply to Raes-of-Art [2012-02-26 07:26:12 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean? I drew it all, frame-by-frame, in Macromedia Flash CS5 (and of course, copied it once it looped through one set), so...
No- No 'lineart' so to speak. I'd have to edit the file to remove all the colors and bg...I worked hard on it as a gift, so I'm not comfortable with making it a free-for-all, if that's what you're asking. Sorry~ o3o;;

Beautiful animation!

I hate it when animations have music and you can't mute the music or it doesn't have a play and stop button cuz it makes me close the window right away cuz it's usually LOUD and scares me off. XD

Yeah, I was planning on it having the tune from the beginning, then I thought...
Naw...
They probably won't like my lil tune anyway... UnU
It's kinda cute though, and I got to playing with the..Echoooo effect on the program I use. You can make a basic echo, or choose settings like 'Drain Pipe' and stuff.
OMG ITS SO COOL. OUO
I recorded a music box once and set it to the drain pipe echo...SO FRIGGIN CREEPY.
