Description
A total Nazi victory is basically impossible. The Soviet Union was simply too powerful for the axis to beat them outright. And there's no way that hitler could have withstood the Russian winter long enough to take everything. However it might be possible to eek out a slight victory, or at least to not lose the war outright. All that really needs to happen in order to prevent that is to prevent the Germans from fighting a two-front war. Which obviously means that Britain, has, to, go! I don't know how it happens but it just happens. Also I'm gonna say the Germans have a slightly stronger navy than they did in our timeline. to prevent the USA from just forcing their way onto Normandy the hard way. That leaves the US without the ability to really do much in Europe. Which probably means they focus EVEN HARDER on the Japanese, since they literally can't do much else.
And since the US would be solely fighting the Japanese, with some possible naval battles against the German navy here and there. It's entirely possible that the USA could actually take Japan just as quickly or even slightly FASTER than in our own timeline. And that means that Japan still surrenders to the USA, either with nukes if the war drags on as long as it did in our timeline, or by an invasion if earlier. Either way, much like in our timeline. The USA can basically do almost whatever with Japan. However unlike in our timeline. The USA REALLY doesn't want the Japanese to fall back in line with hitler, NOR do they want them to fall into the hands of soviet invasion/subversion. So the Japan gets to keep Korea. Especially since Japan would still be occupied and transformed into an American style capitalist power like in our timeline. And realistically the same thing happens to Korea. On one hand, no North Korea
The US's actions in Asia would basically serve as something of a wake-up call to the other two combatants. The Soviets would see that the USA fucked them over in Asia and by now would probably be scared that either A: The USA comes in behind the Germans with their big navy and game ends the Nazis, and gets all of Europe and turns it into a capitalist paradise like japan, while a weakened USSR gets it's Russian territories back at most. or even worse, B: The Nazis survive an American only D-Day and finish off the Soviets and the Nazis take over the world or whatever. The Soviets would also realize that even should a peaceful situation arise. They get mostly fucked over in the peace deals with very few allies after the war, no warm water ports, and having to share their borders with a superpower that literally believe they are the ideological successors to communism. The Nazis would also be well too aware of that whole US navy, bum rush thing. And at this point would have a serious population shortage, which would've really put the whole lebensraum thing into question. And if that weren't enough to convince them. Then the USA taking back Ethiopia and Sudan from the Italians, and the Japanese war trials, would probably make the situation clear. Either way the two powers would probably both see the writing on the wall, and come to the negotiating table to keep what they have, instead of both killing eachother and losing everything to the Americans.
The ensuing peace treaties, would be... interesting. The entire point of the war against the Russians was to get western Russian land for that sweet, sweet, lebensraum. So realistically anything the Nazis control save for maybe Moscow is basically given to the Germans. On the condition that the Russians and other Slavic peoples living on said land get to be taken back into the USSR. However if the Nazis agree to that, (and obviously they want to) then they basically have no good arguments against the now independent Asian nations now existing. Especially since the Fascists wouldn't really be able to keep control the territories, and they'd probably just fall to the communists anyways. Anything that wasn't Russian territory that they took back from the Nazis would basically be independent in this timeline, (like Ukraine shown on the map) They would be created as essentially neutral countries, to create something of a buffer zone between the Nazis and Soviets. But realistically they would just be Soviet satellite states. Now the Germans don't get to keep all of their territorial winnings. And realistically, some of them like Norway they probably don't even want to keep. What they would want to keep are lands with ethnic Germans in them like Austria. As well as anything Slavic, like Poland and the Baltics. Anything else would either become a Nazi puppet state, or get handed over to some other country as a means to reward allies.. So the UK and Norway both become puppet states, and Vichy France probably gets the rest of it's French territory back, especially since that would help to try and appease the French rebels who are still a thing in this timeline. Greece is given to Italy cause that's literally what they wanted. Same thing with Egypt and Libya. Sudan and Ethiopia would go free if the Americans managed to occupy them however. Despite taking Denmark, Greenland would definitely become an independent state, or even just a new American state, since the USA would not give it up at all, and the Nazis would probably let them have it to play nice, in exchange for trying to get free-er access to the red sea so that they can actually use the Suez canal for trade. The axis could also probably keep Algeria as a "French" colony, since they'd probably still control it in the timeline. Spain gets Back Gibraltar from the UK probably. And the British empire probably just falls apart in general. Any neutral countries like Sweden or Turkey remain neutral for obvious reasons. And finally... By this point, the news has possibly come out about the Holocaust. And if it has, that will ABSOLUTELY not be continued. The Allies just will not have it any other way. The Nazis aren't going to agree to keep any of their Jews though, nor will will they ever agree to the creation of Israel like in our timeline. Realistically the Jews would probably be deported to Madagascar or some other far away neutral country like Thailand or something. Since the Nazis would not want the Jews to go to the USA or another allied country. The soviets would also deport their Jews to this state. But overall the Soviets do mostly get fucked over in these peace treaties, if the Nazis take too much Russian territory and hurt Russian power too much. Otherwise they can probably vouch for a bigger buffer zone between the two powers, and as such force there to be more independent countries between them and the Nazis, like independent Baltic states for example.
Now the USSR, seeing that they've been fucked over by both the Americans, and the Nazis. Would act very aggressively in order to build any kind of sphere of influence they can. Not only does this mean, helping out the communists in the Chinese civil war. But also more aggressively subverting other countries around them. Which means promoting anti Japanese sentiments in Korea, promoting anti British sentiments in India, And possibly just outright creating "terrorist groups" to essentially invade countries like Iran. The Soviets would also be more worried about the Nazis, then about the Americans, since the USA is generally less aggressive, and the Germans are literally right there. But this essentially just means putting ore focus on Asia and Africa, over everything else. The Nazis would also be subverting countries around them however. Mainly neutral countries within their sphere of influence and/or power. Like Sweden, Switzerland, Portugal, and Turkey. The Germans would probably also help the British retake Ireland. The Americans would mostly be working to prevent the other two from trying to take too much stuff, and without a Europe to control. I'd imagine the USA to keep closer ties to South America and East Asia. We could potentially see Castro never coming to power due to increased American involvement for instance.
There's an interesting question as to how these three world powers would run things in their territories, and I think that it's an interesting question. The USA obviously does basically the same thing it tried to do in our timeline. Trying to build a globalized economy with South America, Saudi Arabia, and whatever countries they can work with in Africa as producers, East Asia as a manufacturer. And the USA, Canada, and Australia as consumers. And it probably works out about as half decently as it did in our own timeline. The communists also probably operate about the same as they do in our timeline, and crash and burn about the same. There might be some religious exemptions for Iran and India, but it's mostly state enforced atheism throughout most of Asia. There's also obviously alot of building modern industrial and economic structures, since those don't really exist in alot of these Asian countries. But the real meat of this discussion is on the Fascists. How does their system work? The only real good indication we got, was what we saw during wartime, and that's not a good example because alot of it was partially done using work camps. And those weren't going to last forever. What I'd mostly imagine, is a system which is basically just socialism but with money. For instance: Farmers produce food, government buys it, sells it to shops, the shops buy the food then re-sell it to consumers. While this might sound like a decent system, do keep 3 things in mind. 1. There would be a strong push for self reliance in this system. With the idea being that British producers should produce for British consumers. I mean, it is called "National Socialism" after all. 2. The government would also be in control of government services like healthcare, and welfare. Realistically there's going to be taxes levied in order to pay for these services so that they can be good. And someone is going to get fucked over somewhere in the line. 3. The government completely controls most of this economy and will use it for political means. Expect groups like the Kurds, Egyptians, and Sami, to be way more producer and manufacturer than consumer. While it might look stable, and might even be stable. It would still be quite stagnant. And the USA would eventually overtake it, as the Fascist system would mostly just circulate wealth around, instead of creating any. There'd probably also be corruption and government incentives that would slowly drain money out of the system until it's basically just rich political elites sitting atop a horde of peasants. Until the economy in the area collapses in on itself.
I decided that the map you see is a early 60s ish period. Stuff like Vietnam falling to communism still hasn't happened yet. Mainly because at this point the butterfly effect could do god knows what to this timeline. The world is now divided into three powers. The first block is the Capitalist block. The most powerful block, lets be real here. They are actively turning east Asia into a capitalist powerhouse, and pretty much control all of Central and South America. Secondly the Fascist block, who have to rebuild Europe, and build up the African part of the Mediterranean, all while having a slightly worse economy. Thirdly the Communist block, who are the weakest block, and basically only exist because of nukes, and authoritarian power control. And finally The neutral areas, mainly in Africa. Which would have collapsed into independent states without much European involvement. Similar to Asia, but without the American guidance.
Overall this universe is weird as hell. On one hand, Europe is controlled by authoritarians, and the effects will probably be devastating. But on the other hand, the Soviet Union will be less powerful, and collapse earlier.
Anyways that's all for me today.
