I don't think Archie owns Sally, I'm pretty sure SEGA does.

No. SEGA only owns the game characters.(Sonic,Tails,Knuckles etc.) Sally used to be owned by DiC,but now by Archie since DiC is dead..

You're 100% sure about that? Because SEGA created toys of her and stuff in Australia. IF she was owned by archie, then they wouldn't have been able to do that.

100% sure. Are you sure SEGA created those toys? Which SEGA are you talking about, anyway? SEGA of Japan,SEGA of America...?

the SEGA that's not Archie.
I'd love to see the source that Archie owns Sally, though. Because SEGA telling Archie not to kill off Sally and them making merchandise of her in the 90s makes me believe that SEGA owns her.

Well,I'd love to see the source of SEGA making those merchandise. SEGA of Japan does not own Sally, which is what I'm going by. You'reΒ telling me SEGA owns Sally, when the major SEGA(the one in Japan) pretty much doesn't. And besides,if SEGA really owned Sally, wouldn't Sally be in a game by now? SEGA has little to do with the comics, they just let Archie use Sonic and the others, and DiC let Archie use Sally and the others.

You do realize that Sally Acorn is that chipmunk you rescue from badniks in Sonic 1, right?

Yeah, when the people who made SatAM made it, they adapted Sally from her game appearance.

She's also in Fleetway's comic in that form, if you don't believe me

"The name "Sally Acorn" comes from the American Sonic Bible, produced internally by Sega of America during the development of Sonic 1 . She first appears (albeit, unnamed) as a small squirrel with a pink bow in a 1991 origins comic distributed by Sega of America. Sally is mentioned by name in the 1993 UK publication, "Stay Sonic," and also appears as a minor character in the Fleetway comic series."
Looks like SEGA came up with Sally Acorn before SaTAM used the idea

Yes.
Sega of AMERICA. Did you not get this whole time I was talking about SEGA OF JAPAN? The SEGA that created Sonic? Sally is purely western, and therefore,is not owned by most SEGAs.

Mavrickindigo In reply to entropys [2014-01-19 22:45:50 +0000 UTC]
You do know SEGA is the same company no matter what region of it it is, right?
SEGA of Japan owns SEGA of America
and even if we said that they weren't related, SEGA of America is still not archie. It still owns the character, even if SEGA of Japan does not. So she would be copyright SEGA and not Archie, which was the point.

Oh,I know that it's the same company no matter where, but Sally's still western, originally not a character in the games, and I will keep her that way. I'm just giving up on getting across any point. Good bye.

You can't keep her as anything. She's not your character.
That's not how the legal system works.

At the very least, they should be demanding to know what in the world was he thinking when having Sally roboticized/weaponized.
He has made so many bizarre moves in the past 15 months it makes me wonder if he even looks over his work before submitting it to the editor.

Too bad I cant say the same(due to the fact Im a Nintendo fan.) If Ian were to completely destroy Sonic and the Freedom Fighters, he'd be hailed as a hero by Nintendo fans everywhere. Though I do have a fave Sonic character(Bunnie), I cant say that I would shed tears if that were to happen. This is what we Nintendo fans have been wanting to happen to the Sonic franchise since the 16 bit era.

Yea, I guess you do have a point there.
Personally, I'd hate to see Sonic rot from within, but that's happening sadly.
Sega doesn't have a clue on how to make a high quality Sonic game anymore.
They're either mediocre or lousy.

A message to all the Sally and Amy haters:
Get a life. These are FICTIONAL characters. Seriously. It's a serious MENTAL problem. They're not going to die and you know it.
