Nah, don't add the ponytail. Hats + ponytail= not comfortable.And I prefer drawing femals to males, men are so defined it irritates me.

It seems to be natural, that one prefers drawing characters of their own gender.
I usually screw up the proportions of female characters

I do the same with males. Because of the way their muscles are sually defined, it takes a lot of patience to draw them and I have no patience whatsoever.
