Description
Abomination is one of my all-time favorite Marvel Villains. This is a page I did during my stint as colorist on The Incredible Hulk.
Pencils by John Romita Jr. Inks by Dick Giordano (RIP). Colors by Arsia Rozegar (me).
It was an honor to be on the same creative team with such comic legends.

Good guess. Janson actually inked JRJR's art in the issue after this one (#25). It has a pretty epic battle between The Hulk & The Abomination. This whole story arc was a blast and an honor to color.

I really like this page. Your colors really come nicely to it, with those yellow-brown tones and that vibrant green on Abomination. Excellent job.

Many Marvel characters got their monickers by accident.
Hulk, right after he transformed for the first time, was rammed by an army jeep that couldn't stop in time. Because the jeep was wrecked -by the massive man-monster, the soldiers were looking for "that -Hulk !"
Abomination was called that by Betty Ross when he rampaged right after transformation across the army base, due to his strength, his malignity and his looks. He heard that and took the name as his own.
Ben Grimm, upon changing from the cosmic rays while arguing with Reed Richards over the spaceship's inadequate shielding, heard Sue Storm yell "Reed ,run! He's turned into some sort of - THING ! He's strong as an ox !" When the group of fledgling super-heroes took codenames, he called himself a Thing.
His being a monster while the others could lead normal lives, his angst over whether or not to be cured of his condition, was a major editorial decision on the part of the creative team that gave the comic its strength. True, Ben has been cured a number of times or even given the best of both worlds, but this always proved temporary.

Great observations. A testament to how cool Stan Lee is.

Looks like he's returning to his underwater hide-out. This storyline was from Hulk #24 & #25. It's got some really fantastic art by JRJR. Totally check it out. It was an honor and a lot of fun to get to color this story. Most of the #25 was Aboniation and The Hulk brawling it out which was a total blast...
