Description "Schizophrenic? I'm bleeding quadrophenic!"

Fanart for The Who's rock opera, "Quadrophenia." It's about this boy named Jimmy (The Who used the name before Green Day did) who has four different personalities, each mirroring a different member of the band.

From left:
John Entwistle, the shy, insecure bassist.
Pete Tounshend, the introspective, smart guitarist.
Roger Daltree: the flamboyant, moody lead singer
Keith Moon: the crazy, rebellious drummer.

Copics on bristol.

I'm pretty sure if Keith Moon saw this, he would fill his bass drum to the brim with explosives, and then the band would beat on it until they were blown into oblivion, JUST to prevent themselves from being drawn into such an autrocity of an "art-work." Never draw again. I pray to the satanic gods of rock'n'roll that your hands become horribly deformed so that you can never insult the very fabric of the existence of rock music by ever even gripping a pencil again. You. Sicken. Me.

btw. i heard the used penned a song about gerard way. "pretty handsome awkward". well the rumour goes that quinn allman told AP that it was about a certain blonde frontman that they had some problems with... just a rumour tho but i wouldnt put it past them to write it.

i was thinking about the lyrics:

Your dream vacation, smile hostage refuge
A work in progress, you bleed
Just like you puke while running a mile (what? is this supposed to have to do with people making fun of his weight?)
I beg to differ, make me an offer
Warm summer rain, you bleed
Just like you puke while running a mile

Hey, are you okay? (okay) (i'm not okay i promise?)
You look pretty low
Very handsome awkward
Do you feel okay? (okay)
You look pretty low
Very handsome awkward

Your market value, your resurrection (your resurrection) (could this have to do with reprise's treatment of mcr? the resurection part could have to do with the whole "geesus" movement)
Your shallow concept, help yourself (concept? as in tbp's concept?)
I hope you choke and you die (real mature guys)
I know you meant it, nice fucking disguise (so hollow) (the disguise could have to do with way trying to adopt the patient's persona)
Embrace the burn you bleed
Just like you puke while running a mile

reprise's tricks? bert mccracken's bitterness? a conspericy theory? too much paranoia? what do you think?

The-Rage-and-Love In reply to rcsi1 [2007-06-12 19:02:37 +0000 UTC]

Well i'd heard about pRetty handsome Awkward'. I never actually checked out the lyrics- i kept meaning to.

He was asked about it in the K! interview i read, and he said it was a made up rumour, but when asked why he thought people did it he gave a metophroic answer that made no sence.

Alot of people make fun of Gee's wieght, but i just don't get it. Even my dad says he's porky. I just think he's real. But i see what you mean about the line...

As for the use of 'are you okay?' that's just pathetic. It sounds exactly to me like a direct dig at 'Im Not Okay' he's just a..... gaghgagah words fail me!

The resurrection bit could be sothing to do with their very vampuric theme at times, because MCR never died, repise never had to resurrect them from anything. And as for the 'market value' thing, that is just so much like him.

I think the 'shallow concept', and 'nice fucking disguise' are simpley just him sayiong how MCR are faking. I think the concept of TBP and taking on the patients persona is beyond his grasp really, i think it's abit to deep for him. Or maybe he thinks that the concept of TBP had no emotion behind it, so therefor it was shallo

and... 'i hope you choke and die' I don't think McCraken was ever mature, he's jsut a bitter, stroppy child.

Overall... some bits do seem like a direct dig at Gerard, and others sound like metaphoric digs at him, but i'm always likey to think the worst of McCracken. But i asked Andy, who likes MCR and the Used (he follows niether band closely, and sways slightly towards TBP than LFTL, but he owns a Used album, but no MCR) and he says "It probably is".

rcsi1 In reply to The-Rage-and-Love [2007-06-15 23:30:44 +0000 UTC]

yeah...
i wouldn't put it past the used to do that
it might also be at reprise's request (the way disney made hilary duff write a song about lindsay lohan)

yeah, a lot of people comment on his weight. i've never cared about that stuff in the first place to tell the truth and i tend to ignore it.

i know! "are you okay?" it seems like he's saying "you've outsold me, out popularized me etc. are you okay now?" like a sarcastic yet maybe even hurt little rant

resurection... hmm, i think it's supposed to be a stab at the people who worship gerard way like a god. the whole "geesus" and "church of mcr" thing. and how he seems to be this unwilling cult figure. also, your vampire theory sounds right too.

i really think that the shallow concept and disguise lines are direct disses of TBP and way's patient persona. he makes it seem like he's ridiculing himself behind a funny mask not trying to really get into the soul of the character. its like what yearbook magazine said about his painting of david bowie: "gerard way has drawn david bowie in his ziggy stardust guise which implys that way, like bowie, does not feel comfortable facing the world without a costume". that may be what mccracken ist trying to say

yeah i think the choke and die thing is just stupid :barf:

You do have a point, but if it was then i doubt McCracken would take alot of persuaion! To me it looks like something that seemed a good idea at the time, but not anymore- so he says it's not.

People don't seem to understand that if MCR was a group of 5 fat, pig faced guys, i would love them all the same. The world is so shallow.

You're exactly right about 'Are you okay?'

I think people need to remember that Gee is an amazing man, but a man all the same. I think it's because if you look at your avaerage conforming human being, a guy like Gee looks like a whole different spieces, people seem to see him as a super-human. I wander if Bert is capable of having more than one meaning to one line, of if he went for one, and just happened to catch the other as well.

I think he's simply saying that the concept of TBP is shallow because he thinks there is no emotion to it. Maybe that Gee wont talk about him self so he will hide behind the mask of someone else- the Patient. But that's all a load of crap.

Although saying that, there have been times when i've thought 'coke and die Bert!', but it's just stupid to have such a childish stament in with his rant. But then ,that's basically what Bert is, isn't it? A stroppy child.

i agree 100% even though mcr's image does add to their concepts and ideas, issues such as weight and looks really shouldn't matter. when we look back at music, we don't think about the artists' looks. we think about their music and it's impact. i just wish more people would do that with new artists.

i think that mccracken made the lines ambiguous on purpose. i bet he knew that fans would try to break down the lines of the song, therefore giving him more power

you could also argue that "kill all your friends" alludes to mccracken

Well you can hide a lot about yourself, (mccracken hasn't said much about his past. maybe he's embarassed)
But honey, what're you gonna do?
And you can sleep in a coffin,
But the past ain't through with you.

'Cause we are all a bunch of liars. (lies for the liars. i know this came before but the title's been out as long as or longer than tbp)
Tell me, baby, who do you wanna be?
And we are all about to sell it, (this could be a reprise refference)
'Cause it's tragic with a capital T. (Poetic Tragedy?)
Let it be, Let it be, Let it be!

'Cause we all wanna party when the funeral ends.
(Ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba)
And we all get together when we bury our friends. (this could allude to their friendship's end)
(Ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba)
It's been eight bitter years since I've been seeing your face.
(Ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba)
And you're walking away, and I will die in this place. (how mccracken abandoned him while he was in rehab)

Sometimes you scrape and sink so low,
I'm shocked at what you're capable of. (this could really alude to mccracken)
And if this is a coronation,
I ain't feeling the love.

'Cause we are all a bunch of animals
That never paid attention in school.
So tell me all about your problems;
I was killing before killing was cool. (this could be a stab at mccracken being sxe for the attention then giving up)
You're so cool, You're so cool, So cool!

'Cause we all wanna party when the funeral ends.
(Ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba)
And we all get together when we bury our friends.
(Ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba)
It's been nine bitter years since I've been seeing your face.
(Ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba)
And you're walking away, and I will die in this place.

You'll never take me alive.
You'll never take me alive.
Do what it takes to survive,
'Cause I'm still here.
You'll never get me alive.
You'll never take me alive.
Do what it takes to survive,
And I'm still here.
You'll never take me alive.
You'll never get me alive.
Do what it takes to survive,
And I'm still here.
You'll never get me.
(Get me!)
You'll never take me.
(Take me!)
You'll never get me alive. (that could be read as: "i'm going to tryumph over your bullshit")

'Cause we all wanna party when the funeral ends.
(Ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba)
And we all get together when we bury our friends.
It's been ten fucking years since I've been seeing
Your face 'round here.
And you're walking away, and I will drown in the fear

hmmm...............

Hmm...

'You can hide alot about yourself' could also be saying that he hides who he really is and acts as a character which he thinks is 'cool' for hime to be- much like we were commenting on my journal on a Bert rant XD

'We're all a bunch of liars' could also be taking a jibe at McCracken saying how dishonest they are- and saying 'well your dishonest- how come we're the liars?'

I think you're right about the 'We're all about to sell it' being a Reprise ref- maybe saying 'We're all selling albums, so what are you complaning about?'

With the 'I was killing before killing was cool, you're so cool, you're so cool, so cool!' It could also be a jibe at how they were like they were long before the 'emo' scene, where as McCracken really tried to cash in on that.

'Sometimes you scrape and sink so low, I'm shocked at what you're capable of.' You're right- it is easyly a blatent go at McCracken.

'And we all get together when we bury our friends' & 'And you're walking away, and I will die in this place.' your ideas sound quite possable for those lines- i agree

And i think you're also right about 'You'll never take me alive.
Do what it takes to survive,
'Cause I'm still here.'

If you are right about this song then i would say that the main difference between the symbolism of this and of PHA is because Gerard didn't go around saying 'Oh this a soung about how much i hate that stupid used frontman.' If he did right this about Bert then i think it's only because he needed to get it out of his system- like therapy, same reason he rights most of his music.

Also- i think, like many MCR songs, each line could have more than one meaning- i'd say that they could allude to both the ideas we thought of. I think it's also maybe reaching out to those who have had the same experiance- i know this song has helped me through a couple of messy friendship break ups. Like most MCR songs i don't think it is a pointless rant- i think they did it for a reason, for thereapy for themselves and to reach out to others, whereas i feel PHA was just a pointless, childish, easy to sell, rant.

DARN! WHY DIDNT I SEE THID COMMENT B4!

I agree completely. with everything you said. yeah. i think in the end that's what really seperates mcr and the used. mcr are more about the world at large and the used are more about their own personal world
