Description I spent this afternoon listening to girly pop (mostly Yelle, Skye Sweetnam and The She's) and painting this.

I know she's too skinny. I really aught to draw more realistic looking women.

Thank you. The green was kind of a random choice.

You shouldn't feel like you ought to draw anything. Imho, skinny looks suits the style that I see better. I'm not saying it does definitively, but that's how it seems to me.

I just don't want to be seen as a thinspiration artist because I really don't support that.

I don't see you that way. I see you as somebody whose art style is mostly based on thinner figures. Mine is too. TBH, it's not that I have anything against extra weight or fat or anything (in fact, I love classical paintings that usually depict bigger women), thin is honestly easier to draw. I've been trying lately to make proportions on my figures more realistic, though, and I think I've had *some* success.

Lol, I have trouble drawing more realistic proportions too. I just know that a lot of anorexics see thinspiration where it isn't supposed to be...

Ugh, I know how that is. You could always have an ANTI-THINSPIRATION thing on your work, if you wanted.

Thank you. I just used the orangey-red color in my paint set and blended it out with water.

Well, "realistic" is a relative term.
While I personally believe, say, there's too much focus on skinniness in media, it also is important to acknowledge that woman come in all shapes and sizes. So she's thin? So what.
I draw thin characters, fat characters, fit and flabby. The way I tend to decide on their figure is that I consider their personality and try to guess what either best matches their temperament/disposition and/or what would -contrast- their personality. Sometimes a person with a body and mind that don't quite match, or are contrary to the other, actually becomes more memorable.

You're right but I still think that no real women really look like the one I drew in this pic.

By the way, This piece is also fantastic. I really like that solid white block to contrast the frame and the girl. And your skill with mixing ink and watercolor without blurring makes me envious.

Thank you! For the latter, I wait for the paint to dry before going over it with ink.

Thank you. I actually only used one blue color for the shirt and blended it to make different ones.

I think your style is unique. I can always tell when a piece in my inbox is by you. I don't know how unique my style is considering I was influenced by (read: ripped off) a lot of different artists on dA. Thank you though.
