what I have a problem with is why does Thor always have to go thru some form of humility every few years ?
He shouldn't have to, he's proved himself worthy thousands of times over as a protector of the MU , probably more than all the other heroes. But He just doesn't seem to get a break and now he comes across looking like a Conan wannabe who is dependent on ANOTHER weapon.
If if there's one thing that Marvel has really dropped the ball on is refining what actually makes Thor the " God of Thunder " and exploring his powers WITHOUT Mjolnir.
This is a great opportunity for you and JA to explore
Thor shouldn't be going around like some love hurt teenager who's just broke up with his girlfriend and is pining for her like he is with Mjolnir. Thor should be thinking: now that I don't have Mjolnir let me use my powers in a more effective way ( like Storm does).
He has one of the most indomitable wills in comics and should be thinking of ways to better himself without his main weapon instead of sulking all the time.
He should also be able to fly without Mjolnir too without using his goats. He commands the winds and storm so he should be able to " ride" them.
It would be great to see a story with Thor's relationship with his real mother Gaea whilst he's on his road to redemption so his character can be fleshed out even more with their relationship. JMS and Kieron Gillen touched on this in their runs. It would be great to see this expanded further.
Sorry to to go on Russel, your work is great but as the current artist on my favourite character since forever I'd just thought I'd share my thoughts with you as I have no idea to contact JA to say the same thing.
