Okay, so either you meant to ask who are Oracle and Maggie Sawyer (which means you'd have had to have recognized both of them already, which would make this a rather odd question) or you meant to ask if those are Oracle and Maggie (in which case the answer is yes), or you meant something entirely different and you'll need to explain yourself better.

Probably. It isΒ Barbara Gordon, but I haven't actually decided if she's Batgirl or Oracle within the context of this series...

Well, Oracle couldn't get up on stage and dance with Diana... Just saying, Batgirl does have the best legs in the business

Technically, there are precedents for a non-wheelchair-bound Oracle (Beware the Batman, I'm looking at you )...Β

Hrmm...
I also feel Babs is more recognisable as Batgirl. Like, even though Cassandra was my first Batgirl and Steph was my favourite, Babs is always the one I associate with the name. She's been in way more media as Batgirl than anyone else, and it's just...yeah.
Which Batgirl costume would you be more inclined to use, if it did come to that?

If it came to that? Probably a variant on the suit Stephanie wore. I think it struck the best balance between aesthetics, functionality, and not looking like heavy ballistic armor (seriously, If Batwoman's suit can be fully bulletproof without looking the least bit bulky, I don't see the point of all that plating... It wasn't even knife proof, so it's obviously not for melee protection).
But really, I just feel that Babs is better as Oracle, wheelchair or not.

The only time I've seen bulky Batwoman armour was Injustice...then again, I'm only on the Nocturna storyline, so *SPOILERS*? At this stage she's got the sleek, totally bulletproof, near unbreakable suit Director Bones gave her.
I like Babs as Oracle, but...yeah. For me, she'll just always be Batgirl.
Agree on Steph's armour, though I assume you'd tweak the colours to be more Babs...that said, I do like the Burnside look...and LOVE her "New Original" look (New 52, seen briefly in flashbacks to her pre-wheelchair days. Grey bodysuit, black gloves, bat and boots, blue and black cape, Robin-mask and flame red ponytail...okay, the ponytail was the best part.) It was just so different from every other Bat-Cowl, gave the suit a real homemade look...which, considering she started helping against Bruce's wishes and wouldn't have had Waynetech bat gear at the time, is exactly what it should have looked like

The sleek bulletproof suit is the one I meant. The point being that the all that armor plating on batgirl's suit was both too cumbersome-looking and unnecessary in a universe where something like Kate's suit can be made.Β
I think what really prevents me from thinking of Babs as primarily Batgirl is that I remember her being pretty damn bad at it. Like, 'forced to do an impromptu striptease to distract some goons because she couldn't think of anything better' bad... Β

Hmm.
I haven't read any pre-reboot Babs Batgirl, to be fair. I started sporadically reading in the Cass Cain days (and, let's face it, there is NOTHING more badass than Cass Cain.), so my only real experiences of her as Batgirl (in the comics. We're ignoring all the animated series, movies and tv shows) is the Gail Simmone "Knightfall" story arc, her rampage across Europe in "Batman Eternal" (which, yeah, ended with her hypnotized and beating Jaybird Todd's ass into the ground), her Birds of Prey appearances (where she was pretty much always sidelined by Black Canary, Poison Ivy, Strix or Katana) and her being almost forced to marry Joker in "Death Of The Family"...and her part of that story was probably the best of the whole family.
She's actually pretty awesome in the New 52.

That's the thing. There justΒ isn'tΒ much pre-reboot Babs Batgirl. She pretty much retired in the 70's (and went into politics. yes.)... sure, she came back for an appearance here and there, but she was hardly active.Β
As for the New 52 stuff, it just never really... I dunno... caught me? I tried, but... well...

SvettaK92 In reply to RDishon [2015-07-26 21:23:22 +0000 UTC]

Huh. See, for me, Batgirl is one of the best comics in the New 52. Like, top 5, easy...and I've read a fair few of the reboot titles. The artwork, the stories, the depiction of the character...I dunno. It all just feels right

You do realize what that says about the restΒ of them, don't you? From my point of view, anyway^^

Eh. It's not bad, but some of them are just weird reads. The pacing in Wonder Woman, for example, just never seems to click. Sometimes nothing really happens for, like, three issues, then suddenly she fights Zeus's firstborn and becomes the God of War.
Suicide Squad and Justice League are brilliant. And Harley Quinn is utter perfection.
