Description
Monsters and Ghosts of Massachusetts No. 3
At the very heart of the Bridgewater Triangle is the cursed Hockomock Swamp. Its name is from an Algonquin term that could mean “place where the spirits dwell” or “place of bad spirits”, depending on who you ask. Puritans called it “Devil’s Swamp”. It was both a sacred place and a place of danger. The swamp is also in the heart of the equally accursed Freetown Forest. Among the frightening cryptids reported here are oversized predators, with the legendary Thunderbird taking home the prize.
These massive eagles feature in Native American legends. Thunder was said to be caused by the flapping of their enormous wings. While many could dismiss this old legend as a quaint myth, the aviation age has seen these pterodactyl-like predators continue to scare the shit out of people to this day.

That's a spectacular picture . I read about a girl who was allegedly snatched up from a schoolyard by a giant bird and then, after flying a distance it dropped her, and they found her clawed up remains in the mountains days later.
