Description
After 4 seasons, We Bare Bears is ending on September 7, 2020 with the new tv film called We Bare Bears: The Movie. Truth be told, I saw this coming. I watch it on June 30 online on KimCartoon and find it pretty awesome. I won't get into but there a ton of signs telling us this tv movie would be the finale (Like Ed, Edd N Eddy's Big Picture Show) and thus, the show will be ending. The show follows three adoptive brother bears: Grizzly (often called Grizz), Panda (often called Pan-Pan), and Ice Bear. The bears attempt to integrate with human society, such as by purchasing food, making human companions or trying to become famous on the Internet, although these attempts see the bears struggle to do so due to the civilized nature of humans and their own animal instincts. However, in the end, they figure out that they have each other for support. The Bears often form a "bear stack", which they use to get around the city. The stack has become perhaps the most recognizable image from the show, although they do travel walking on their own. Occasionally, the bears share adventures with their friends, such as child prodigy Chloe Park, bigfoot Charlie, internet sensation Koala Nom Nom (Well, sort of friend-ish, I guess?), park ranger Tabes, and produce saleswoman Lucy. Some flashback episodes chronicle the adventures of the bears as cubs trying to find a home.
So according to Wikipedia:
The show was created by cartoonist Daniel Chong, who had previously worked as a story artist for Pixar and Illumination Entertainment. The show is based on his webcomic The Three Bare Bears, which also features the identifying characters. This webcomic was uploaded online from 2010 to 2011. Billed as a comedy, the show is a production of Cartoon Network Studios, which developed the program with Chong as part of their shorts development program. It was announced during the network's 2014 upfront.
Nom Nom and Charlie were initially voiced by Ken Jeong and Tom Arnold, respectively, before getting recast sometime before airing. The show's visual simplistic look was inspired by classic hand-drawn animation akin to Peanuts and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
The pilot episode made its world premiere as part of two separate venues of the KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival at the EYE Film Institute Netherlands: the "Animated Shorts 5", and the "Animated Shorts for Kids" ages 9 to 12. The short was screened alongside the Dutch premiere of Clarence, the Steven Universe episodes "Mirror Gem" and "Ocean Gem", and a live interview with the creator of the latter series, Rebecca Sugar.
We Bare Bears premiered on Cartoon Network in Canada on July 27, 2015. It also aired on Cartoon Network in the United Kingdom and Ireland on September 7, 2015. The series debuted on Cartoon Network channels in Australia and New Zealand and the Philippines on November 16, 2015. It was premiered on Cartoon Network in India on November 29, 2015, and in Italy on December 8, 2015. It was also premiered in Pakistan on Cartoon Network on July 13, 2016 and airs on every Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 pm, according to Pakistan Standard Time. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland it airs on Cartoon Network (Pay-TV) and Disney Channel (Free-TV). In the Czech Republic it airs on Cartoon Network (Pay-TV) and ČT Déčko (Free-TV).
Another dubbed version in Filipino aired on October 19, 2016, on 5 alongside the 2016 reboot of The Powerpuff Girls. Both shows also premiered on CNN Philippines' weekend morning block starting September 1, 2018, except that it is broadcast in English and not dubbed in Filipino. Starting December 2018, the series is also aired on NET. in Indonesia under the NET. TOON block and dubbed version in Indonesian.
And as for the movie itself, According to We Bare Bears series creator Daniel Chong, he was approached by the Cartoon Network staff with idea for a feature film based on the series in 2018. Despite having no previous experience in film, Chong accepted the proposal, drawing from his feature animation practice and reasoning that the characters he created have an emotional depth in them and capabilities he knew that could sustained for a long period of time. Due to the then-continuing production of the series, Chong and his team had to prepare the film while finishing the episodes at the same time, which took over several months. The film's story was written by Mikey Heller and Kris Mukai, the main writers of the series. While writing it, they were inspired by the 2018 California wildfires and the Trump administration family separation policy that were occurring at the time, which lead to a family being separated from each other as a central theme to a forest fire being written in the story's climax. Chong remarked that sensitive topic such as those wouldn't appear to be ideal in the main children's television series. He also wanted the main themes within the series to be displayed in the film, such as diversity and the reason for anthropomorphic characters.
Chong remarked that the original treatment of the film was originally centered around the three Bears. But to balance the heavy themes, the film's core was shifted to be centralized around Grizz. The original meeting sequence was first written with the three bears reminiscing it, but was rewritten to be focused on Grizz, who, as Chong felt, as the eldest of the brothers, was faced with the heaviest burdens and was most concerned with everyone's well-being. Chong also remarked the was initially opposed to the addition of the other captive bears, as it could risk the main characters as uninteresting. The film was finalized as the Bears' final adventure and a conclusion to the original We Bare Bears series, though Chong had expressed intentions for it to continue to spin-offs, among other different ways. This was before he announced that he'll be departing Cartoon Network to work on another project. The animation on the film was produced by Rough Draft Studios, which had previously animated the television series.
The Themes and interpretations of We Bare Bears: The Movie explores themes of acceptance, family separation, and racial discrimination. Pundits and Chong himself stated that both the series and film are allegories for what it feels like to be a minority in America. Chong had previously made the series based from his experiences as an Asian American in Orange County and the San Francisco Bay Area. He remarked, "as an Asian American, sometimes individuals are treated unfairly for no other reason than looking different." Unlike lighthearted manner the series it was based on explored, the film switched to a darker tone by further focusing on the feeling of alienation experienced by the three bears. Due to time limitations of being in 11-minutes long per episode, it was never explicitly presented in the television series, which lead Chong and his team felt will be more aptly and deeply explored within an hour-long feature.
Shamus Kelley of Den of Geek also observed that its theme may also be topical to the Black Lives Matter movement, during which time the film was released, though Chong quickly to dismiss the matter, saying that aren't trying "to echo what's exactly happening right now." He instead attributed the inspirations to what was happening when the film was being developed, including the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on separation of families, incarceration, and the "pain and intolerance of any minority that is being discriminated against". Mukai felt that those themes had to be addressed, saying "We would all wake up and we would look at the news, and we would say, 'This isn't right.' It would feel sort of disingenuous to not acknowledge it." But also added that she hoped that it made the viewers think about "standing up for people that might not look like them or might be being treated differently from them" and empower children to "feel like they can do something."
Despite wishing to shed more light on these sensitive themes, both Chong and Mukai stated that the film's goal is still to provide relief to their mostly young audience. Chong also noted that the concept of wanting to be understood and accepted should not be hard to understand, that it should be one anyone should be able to understand, regardless of being minority or not. He remarked, "This is not a matter of politics. We all have this primal urge to be understood and accepted. If we just understand that we're all in the same boat, regardless, then my hope is that it will help people understand the idea that we shouldn't be putting up these walls."
So, yes, of course, 4 Seasons is a nice number, making a best cartoon network show to reach it. There have been over a pilot episode, 140 episodes and 15 shorts and they've done enough to fill up those episodes and shorts. Besides with the show's formulaic nature, there's only so much you can do. Honestly, I'm surprised it to go 4 Seasons while still going us plenty of unique stories and development. I have experience all the fun, a bit of romance and adventure that the show had over the years since the show first aired on July 27, 2015.
Of course as the tv movie serves as a series finale, it could cover it, but with the plot it is has, I'm not quite sure. But, Actually, there's is no few other things to cover first. Not a lot to say about that. It's awesome. We Bare Bears: The Movie will be aired on September 7. I just hoped that the Tv movie doesn't end the series with a sad ending.
The Tv movie centers around the three bear brothers Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear, with their desire to be accepted into the community, which unwittingly leads them to wreck havoc throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, igniting a mob of complaints from its residents. Seeking to remove them from the society, wildlife control agent Trout relentlessly pursues to separate the brothers, who in turn escape from the Bay Area and seek refuge to Canada. Along the way, the Bears endure hardships while staying true to their promise of being "bros for life".
Overall, I'm beyond hyped for all the stuff we should expect in the coming years and months. It had a great and awesome run and no matter what happens, it will still exist, in merchandise to be exact. And reruns as well. I really enjoy liking and loving the characters in the show, especially Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear. Yeah, despite of still doing fanart/crossover art, I'm still doing fanart of it, and I won't stop because of the finale.
And now that's all I got. There's a lot to forward to, and if you're sad about the show ending just look on the bright side. Despite new shows that are coming out and in development, Especially with A spin-off series titled We Baby Bears which was announced on May 30, 2019. It will air on Cartoon Network sometime in 2020 or next year. The show will focuses on the three bears as cub versions of themselves. At least, We still have Teen Titans GO, Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart, DC Superhero Girls (2019) and over on television, especially on Cartoon Network. Lots of stuff to watch.
So, there you have it!
