Elite '16 :: FilerAbout the concepts
Elite is a pixel-perfect concept which is all about simplicity. These concepts all use flat, muted colors; sharp outlines and soft shadows to create a soft and pleasing user interface, with usability as the first priority.
About this concept
This is the default file management app for elite.
The main change from last year's concept is that I've polished it a *lot*. Almost all parts of the concept have been changed, if not entirely redrawn from scratch.
Also, I've ditched transparency for a simpler and more elegant design. Why will become clearer in the next few concepts ;).

These concepts take heavy inspiration from Google's excellent material design, as well as some from the elementary OS project.

Damn it Microsoft, Windows is still one of the most popular OS's of 2016, yet the UI still looks shittier than Android Froyo.
There are a bunch of good UI/UX designers out here. Hire some of them, geez.

Nope? This is a concept and has nothing whatsoever to do with Windows 10. This is my idea of how a file manager might look in a alternative operating system, and is thus not even a real application.

Looks great indeed! Just one concern: object padding seems really tight. Use of whitespace surrounding buttons and text could be improved. The impression is that everything is really squished together.
Other than that, I like it very much.

Yeah, whitespace would make it awesome, and a lot more functional (especially for touch devices - ideal thing would be to find a middle-ground). Google's Material gives consideration to touch devices without having to switch modes like Office 2013/16 does.
