WELL this one came from an oolllddd design from a dump but i usually have some small concept in mind like, for this guy i wanted THAT haircut specifically and a dragon-y feel? So then i just design what comes to mind when i think of it

Usually when I make my characters is either fuck it or im listing everything before i draw them

lmaoo i usually do a design first before anything then things just come after that and i'll make changes to the design if necessary. most of my ocs go thru a couple concepts before they get a solidified design but even that changes over time
