Something else I wanted to do, for a long time ever since I saw "Inside Out" and "Song of the Sea" on the same weekend.
(And yes, this is my 3rd selkie art in a row.)
Each emotion is reacting to what being selkies will be like.

Joy is admiring how warm and snuggly her seal skin is, and how exciting and magical it will be to turn into a seal.
Sadness is looking in her reflection with angst and thinking about how all those selkie stories end with the mother selkie leaving her human family behind.
Disgust is.. hesitant to get wet while swimming in the "gross" salty ocean water. Plus, her seal skin gives her an uneasy fur coat vibe.
Anger is boiling mad because he simply didn't ask to join in this adventure. If it's all the same to him, he's happy enough on good old dry land.
Fear is readily prepared, but still unsure, about becoming a selkie tonight. So many thoughts racing through his head: What if something goes wrong? What if they drown? What if he doesn't change in time? What if the water's too cold? What if a shark or an orca or a sea monster or something eats them? What if they're stuck as seals forever? What if they do change back, only to remain part seal? And what if when they change back, they can't speak in any thing but seal barks? What if he forgets how to swim? WHAT IF HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO BE A SELKIE?

Regardless, the emotions set off on their magical adventure as seals, and change with ease.

Joy is thrilled to see it worked! They're seals now and can swim the depths of the ocean to witness its endless beauty!
Sadness notices black stains on her fur and is depressed by how her seal skin must've been in a previous oil spill at one point.
Disgust may be a seal, but even her seal instincts do not want to eat that dead fish. Plus, she thinks her whiskers are weird.
Anger, now adjusting to his new seal form, is riled up by the sight of trash in his new ocean home! People should mind their garbage!!!!
Fear was too busy panicking to realize he had already changed into a seal, but finally notices, now that his swimming gear floats away. The epiphany that he is now a seal is still sinking in. (No pun intended.)

And yes, the firefly things are based off the magic lights in "Song of the Sea".
