Sad Cyborg dreams of a better life <3GERD DERRRRM I'm in pain now from doing this. I tried REALLY hard to be super duper patient and calm through the whole painting. I like how she turned out. Feel like I coulda done more with her hair and shiz, dunno! /care

I think you did a great job, the only thing that looks 'off' at all is the anatomy of the neck and shoulders, but I love the expression and skin tones, hair looks pretty damned good too

Yeah it definitely is off, but it was so late and I was so tired I was beyond caring. I'm gonna study anatomy properly at some point, but I was just mostly trying to nail down a painting technique that appeals to me in certain other peoples paintings. I'll probably go over her again because I didn't quite manage it, I've been learning a lot about brush control and shiz, but it requires me to be a lot more patient.. which isn't a bad thing in my life right now.

Patience is a virtue so they say (Bo&&ocks I say, if I'd wanted to be virtuous I'd have joined the seminary... Maybe being an atheist might also have gotten in the way).
Whose work in particular were you thinking of? This certainly has a nice style, the colours/sub surface stuff is nice almost porcelain feel to the skin.
Hope your life improves to the point where you can say Bo&&ocks to being patient... Patience is hard!!!!

I just like some of the soft painterly things in my favorites mostly. Love Miles Johnston painting style, zoonoids vampire girl.. that sort of thing

Miles Johnston is particularly strong on the fundamentals, the turning of form and lighting, I guess that stuff only comes with practice and lot's of studies from life etc... I'd say you didn't do a bad job on that front with this, and I'm sure you'll improve too. As I say, I really like the translucency of the skin.

Yeah the guy knows his stuff. I'll get there eventually, just don't have a lot of time cuz of life crap. I'm still only half way through the james gurney light/colour book
