Description PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS WITHOUT PERMISSION, this just got stolen from me. I've kept my earlier work unwatermarked for so people can view it better, but I may have to start now.

Cover one for 's comic project. This is actually the non-copyrightable version (as in it isn't fan art). The one where they could sue me for saying, "All mine" is in Scraps (along with the black and white version). Amazing what a few stars can do...

The title is an in-reference, technically. For some video game fans, you might guess one, for certain dinosaur fans, another. (For the latter, think "Seek peace." Okay, lame attempt at reference...)

Anyway, a shark, a dolphin, fish and part of a creature of my own design (the sketch for which can also be seen in Scraps). And yes, that *IS* a silly little goldfish, and it and everything else is an allusion to and in the style of Boris Vallejo (again). Or at leas an attempt at his style.

Time: About 8 hours of traditional drawing, 5 more hours in Photoshop.

Medium: Graphite pencil on textured paper manipulated in Photoshop Elements 2.0

I'm so amazed at this...I wish I could draw AND colour like you can. I love all the details you put in here. They look very lively and very real. To me, all is perfect ~

OMG! awesome! it looks great, hmmm it says advanced critique, but i'm not advanced, so if i could point something out itd be the seaweed behind the shark, it draws too much attention away from the shark, but still looks fine ^_^" the lighting looks great btw. nice job overall, definitely one for the favs

this is an absolutely stunning picture, no matter which way you look at it!! it keeps making me scroll upwards time and again, i'm so awed ^^

great use of blending and contrasting, and the proportions are dead-accurate! many people (that i've noticed, anyway) sometimes forget that a shark's lower jaw is further back, even in a wide-open frontal view like in this image. did you use any references?

what i'm a bit perplexed about is the seeming streak of light on the dolphin's underbelly. all of the other little fish in the image aren't lit from below like the dolphin. of course, i may be wrong

superb work, i must say

Wow, I'm glad you like it! Thanks!

References as in direct copy, no, but certainly several pictures that told me what the shapes were like. From there, like the dolphin and fish, it was stylized.

Interesting point, I hadn't noticed before... I guess all I can say is... "Oops?" Thanks for pointing that out, if I can figure out how, it'll be something to fix. Maybe there's something directly below the dolphin only... *Excuse*

You're welcome! it's great that you taught yourself the basics, it really lends to the overall impression given by the image! ^^

as for the light-stripe-thing, don't worry too much about it i'm a tad obsessive D:

something... like a glowing rock, or electric eel? *lends to excuse*

Yowch.

I think that this is amazing. The detail and coloring is just stunning! I really like how you pulled off the shadows on the dolphin and shark, given the medium you used. The water looks fantastic. ^^

Rebmakash In reply to RFZT [2006-08-10 04:42:10 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thank you so much! (I really appreciate the time you took to analyze this. Most people give couple-word comments.)

The water was digitally aided with brushes after doing the original with graphite and eraser work. It actually wasn't too hard.

RFZT In reply to Rebmakash [2006-08-11 00:05:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you're welcome. I try to tell people why I like their stuff, or comment on the detail, or...something. it has to be pretty darned amazing to get a simple two-word comment out of me.

I actually feel weird when I analyze something like a book or art. It makes me feel like I'm stripping away its meaning. And since pretty much all the comments I write here are about what I like and coloring and whatnot, I don't really see the big "long comment! 8D" response in people because I use them so often. But it's nice to know.

Rebmakash In reply to RFZT [2006-08-15 05:17:43 +0000 UTC]

No way you're stripping meaning away. You're seeing it for what it is and seeing beyond most people.

Once again, thanks!

RFZT In reply to Rebmakash [2006-08-15 20:42:14 +0000 UTC]

8D Thanks. People tell me things like I'm thirteen going on...I don't know, much older. They often mistake me for a senior or early college person, even when I was eleven. O.o But one thing I don't think too many people know is that I seem to be able to see things for what they are. Some kind of perception accuracy, despite my Asperger's. One thing I do at school is "sort" people out into groups--it's sort of like labeling, only it's for recognization, not judgement. Since I haven't done sorting for that long and that I'm one of the definite school "freaks" who has so many rumors about her, I pretty much only have outcast sortings right now. My teachers last year all really liked me, and the students all had their own little untrue things to say about me. Cruel little middle schools. I don't think a single one of those people realized I was observing and studying them all year. It's one advantage to being the one who's practically an atisocial.

RFZT In reply to RFZT [2006-08-17 02:38:14 +0000 UTC]

Really? Most people who tell me they thought I was older place me as around seventeen.

Yep. And in so many ways, I am glad to be an outsider. It's just the whole people saying and acting crap towards you that I don't like. Otherwise...different all the way! Actually, i'm silently thanking all this conformity, because very time somebody is copying a fashion sense or posing, I am just standing out more.

Rebmakash In reply to RFZT [2006-08-15 22:55:28 +0000 UTC]

Interesting, I would have put you at at least 4 years older myself.

I understand. Middle school is kind to only the popular. I was the girl everyone knew, but not because I was popular.

but why showing an agressive Shark ? they're nice (and wonderful, and beautiful.... looool *love them*) creatures and they never attack dolphins because dolphins kill them !

Thanks for the critique. I know what you mean, and I think it's a combination of trying to use a style I'm not familiar with and botched perspective.
