Snuggling into Percy's chest, Avalon felt tears run down her lightly speckled chest, breathing in her father's scent before he left...once and for all.
The larger lion hybrid took in a deep breath, licking his daughter's head, laying down next to her.
"Avalon..." He started, his voice soft as his youngest daughter buried her head into his mane. "I'm going to be gone a long time...but know that we will always look up at the same moon, in the same sky. Think of me when you look at the moon Ava. I'll always be here with you, in some way or another. I promise." Avalon hiccuped a slight sob, trying to bury herself further into her father's chest, curling up into the tightest ball that she possibly could.
He...he couldn't leave.
But...he wasn't...not really.
Her father was the moon, shining everlasting in the sky...her mother, the sun. And together, their cubs had the stars littered in their pelts.
"I love you Papa."
"I love you too, Ava."
