rather tragic how something beautiful growing and showing all the signs of life as there's death all around surrounding it and creating fertilizer to make it grow more and more. Rather it's rather ironic that this is growing so well with so much not growing. I do like how it was chosen to be in black & white rather then color because it makes for a great contrast of life & death/ black & white. and the gray to represent whatever notion you belive are we getting busy living or we getting busy dying?

thanks. this picture has always been very moving to me. and being that the tree is about 400-500 years old it was doing fine before given any 'fertilizer,' which seems to me a dreary way of putting it, but true nonetheless.

This is sad. Dead trees always add to the overwhelming sadness of graveyards

The tree isn't dead, but is ~500 yrs. old and still alive 'n kickin'.

I probably meant dead as in leafless, though I should have said that instead

Wow.. just gorgeous. And sad. It's like the tree's long branches are reaching out to them...
