Metallo/John Corben of Earth-256John Corben was a U.S. Army soldier who worked under general Sam Lane. On the general's orders, he tried to neutralize Superman, but failed every time. One day, Lex Luthor invited Corben to participate in the Metallo Project, during which his mind was transferred into the body of a robot powered by kryptonite. Thanks to his new body, John, now called Metallo, becomes one of Superman's most dangerous enemies.
