Description I finally got around to painting this from a thumbnail I had sketched maybe ten or so years ago. I wanted some red flowers to punctuate the green leafy background and scarlet runner pole beans seemed to be a good fit.

Ah, so you are transitioning to digital as well? What do you think of it? You have re-created your traditional look very well

Oh, thanks! Yeah, I'm hoping to eventually add a digital section to my website portfolio. I like that it is a lot faster than my traditional technique and I hope this will open up opportunities for quicker turn-around work that I might not have been able to do traditionally. But, I think I'm still partial to traditional - it still feels more comfortable to me and I really do like having a piece of original art at the end. Well, hopefully, I'll be able to keep my fingers in both the traditional and digital realms! Are you doing mostly digital now, or still incorporating watercolor into some of your projects? Hope you're having a good summer!

Yes, digital is much faster! I've been working mostly digital lately. I had a baby in December, and it is much easier to work digitally with a baby. I can work during her naps, and when she gets up, I just "save" and come back to it later. With traditional, it is much harder to pick up and put down so quickly. I hope to be able to have the time to incorporate both into my technique eventually, perhaps start a painting traditionally, and then add to it digitally, but for now, I have to do what is quickest and easiest!

Hi! I've watched you on DA for a long time, but I can't remember if I have commented before. (Yikes! That makes me sound stalker-ish. >.O) I'm typically very shy about stuff like that. But, I had to say how much I enjoyed seeing this beautiful illustration. It is truly lovely. I love the warm tones, and the beautiful contrast between the reds and the cooler, refreshing greens. And the expression on the girl's face is beautiful: full of hope. Thanks for sharing your wonderful work!
