he seems so powerfull, so strong
isn't Cerberos the guardian, and Charon the boatsman?

In Greek mythology, yea, Cerberus is a guardian and Charon is a boatsman. Dante (the writer of Inferno) used them both in his discriptions of Hell which he wrote in the 13th century. I got comissioned to draw all the circles of hell and its guardians a year back or something, but my client ran out of money -_-

Have you (by any chance) read In the hand of Dante by Nick Toches? If not, go look for it, it's quite a book. It thought me a lot, not in the least how to get hyporcrites of my back and proper english.

I get so bloody confused when it comes to the christian mythology. Ya know there are too many demons named charan, charin, and charun! Which Chasshole is which?! Boatman, Centaur, and demon lord? Aghh! Anyway, for the boat man, I like it, the face is a lil scewy but the stylistic treatment of the hair is nice. Now as for Dante, they came up with a classic "continuous narritive" (comic of the old days) which goes from the awakening all the way through hell to purgatory. I'm sry, I forgot the artists name.

Wow, the finished piece is really something else, man. It gives off a real "death" kind of vibe. Seeing as I only work in black and white, I have no helpful coloring hints for you, so instead I shall give you two enthusiastic thumbs up and be on my way.

Desalnietemin, puik werk

great atmosphere ... your light source on him is wierd tho ... i dunno exactly where the this light is coming from. I mean we are in fog with is very reflective ... So i think the lighting sould corrospond to the only real lightsource in the picture ... fallow me ?
it seems u colored the guy and stuck a bg in there
if u switched up the lighting so its moreso coming from that one light on the boat. i think it would be alot more sucessful
but dude it still looks great ...

"it seems u colored the guy and stuck a bg in there"
Yup, I colored Charon first, a week or two ago, then I didn't know what to do with the pic beyond that, like I said, i'm not that good with colors, changed the background and the rest of his surroundings a lot until it came to this. I kinda felt Charon had to be the focus of the pic, so I left him like this. But yea, I think you're right about the lighting on him, I'll try to change that.
Thanks!

Stop the color nonsence. It looks damp and eerie. I love this. The hair almost radiates.

I really wanted his hair to be extremely white, you know, cuz that's how Dante discribes him, well, he mentions his really white hair, so there, dunno, works for me.
Nadia, you're such a fangirl but yea, thanks!

Heheh, you're in for some great stuff man, Dante was really, REALLY ahead of his time, still, it's kinda weird to read a book written in the time when people still thought the earth was flat
