My reason for a drop in submissions.relativity - For Beyond the Frontier: Unknown Moons contest.
First off, I must say I am thoroughly thrilled that this contest came to be. As in it pushed me further in my work of this piece. I have already gained so much from this contest; this piece vastly improved my skills, I must say, especially for a month-old space artist. So... expect a change in my work.
Description:
Two moons revolving around a "Hot Jupiter" which is a Jovian world that is in extreme proximity to its parent star. (They are actually very common!) The moons are inhabited.
I chose the title "Relativity" because if you were to look at the concept of life, it is all relative. We have a proposed "Habitable Zone" in which we believe life may be supported. However this is relative to the way life on Earth came to be, and we have no other proof to disprove that.
Such as... the beings living on these unknown moons might believe in a habitable zone that is very close to the star, and anything in the relative position of Earth is too cold to sustain life.
I unno, interesting thought, I thought. xD
Anyway:
-Photoshop CS2
-3Ds Max
-Intuos 4
-Original 3000x3000 at 300dpi
-81 layers
~17 hours of work over 2 weeks
~Some textures from cgtextures.com
~Prominences created using roman's brushes
~Few sun-making tips taken from ~keepwalking07 's tutorial.
Really helpful piece to a month old space artist.
