Description

We go now the savannas of Africa, in rural Tanzania. An Eclipso Archaeological Society expeditionary team of scientists and security officers, the latter half of which led by Dominic Mndawe, were researching the peoples and places of Tanzania for further educational and cultural enhancement in the area. They are, specifically, looking for an item, a mask, belonging to, according to local legend, an ape spirit called Djuba. Dominic and his right-hand-man, Thomas Blake, are both native to Tanzania and know the customs and lay of the land well, so Eclipso’s new president, Dr. Bruce Gordon, entrusted them to run security for the team. With the team is a United Nations security team, led by one Mason Tsumo. As Dominic and his team patrolled the operational area one day, protesters came up to the teams, demanding they return to America and leave their relics and culture alone. Among them was Dominic’s own extended family, who tried to appeal to his sense of cultural pride. Dominic claimed he was only doing his job, and he demanded they leave. They refused to, and this led Thomas to brutally attack one of the protesters. Dominic pulled Thomas away with the use of his team, and the protesters retreated. Dominic chewed out Thomas and fired him, giving him a plane ticket back to the United States. Later that night, Dominic was awoken from his sleep by more protests… followed by gunfire! Thomas had NOT left yet, and he ordered their team to shoot at the protesters, killing one person and injured several more before they all ran off! Dominic pulled a gun out on Thomas, but he was outgunned by the security officers who remained loyal to Thomas Blake. Mason Tsumo and his men were subdued by Thomas’ men before the shooting at the protesters began, and the Eclipso scientists sided with Thomas and his men. Thomas pulled out an amulet, the Mark of Urzkartaga, that Dr. Gordon provided him, and he magically began morphing into a cat-like monster with it! His claws tore into Dominic’s neck and he began bleeding to death. The goons dragged him into the plains and left him to die. However, Dominic awoke, fully healed, in a hut beneath Mt. Kilimanjaro. The dweller of the hut, the ape Djuba himself, told him that the return of Urzkartaga’s power to their realm, especially wielded by a psychopath like Thomas Blake, could spell doom for many a people. Dominic agreed to help Djuba, and he gave Dominic the Mask of B’Wana. Dominic meditated with the mask on all night and all day until he realized the power of the Antagon, aka the Animal Masters, who long ago splintered from the Lords of Order and Chaos with their first leader B’Wana. Dominic could now telepathically command the animals of Earth, and he led as many as he could gather into battle against Eclipso’s forces. The animals were winning the fight until Thomas fully morphed into his full feline monster form. Calling himself Catman, he battled Dominic and was close to victory, until Dominic revealed his second, and more powerful ability: merging multiple animals into a powerful chimera that he can command. Catman, faced with several gorilla/elephant hybrids created and commanded by Dominic, was bested and he escaped with the Mark. Local authorities arrested Thomas’ men and the Eclipso scientists and freed the UN servants. Dominic spoke to Mason Tsumo and his people about what happened, and swore to hunt down and find Catman, so he can destroy the Mark of Urzkartaga. Mason said he could help, if Dominic agreed to the plan the UN is putting together. Dominic agreed and took on a new name: B’Wana Beast.

** Urzkartaga is a lion sorcerer who betrayed the Antagon long ago and formed a blood cult before the Antagon defeated him and imprisoned him in the necklace.
* Djuba was the right hand and friend of B’Wana, and had found a suitable successor to the mask in Dominic, who regretted his actions with Eclipso and wanted to make amends.
* Dominic, now the B’Wana Beast, remained in Tanzania, studying his people’s ancient past and the power of the Antagon, until the day he can find and destroy the Mark of Urzkartaga for good. He will be called upon by the United Nations, soon, though…
