Talking to the fish is more badass than it seems. Well, first you need to stretch the definition of what you understand as "fish". I mean, Aquaman can command not only well-known aquatic badasses like great white sharks and killer whales, but he isn't finished. Where do you think that Godzilla, Leviathan and good ol' Cthulhu actually live? Well, in the ocean, baby!

The problem is that people who aren't comic geeks knew him from the Super Friends cartoon (and that goes for kids who watched the show in its prime and those who watched the reruns). They didn't even bother to read the comics, where they'd see he did more than just talk to fish.

yeah, the only times aquaman was a badass he was also a villain (Black Lantern Aquaman and Emperor Aquaman in flashpoint)
