Description Received the domestic cat skull from which I bought. I have a fascination for feline anatomy, and I always wanted to have real cat skull. I am really happy with it and I can't stop staring at it. Its great to see everything you have studied about anatomy in real.

No, I will not give it a name. I always find it strange to see people give dead things names...

It is a roadkill cat.
So parts of the skull are missing, also a few teeth at the front.
I also showed this skull to my LIVING CAT, Owl. Just to see if she knows, she would not stop sniffing the skull. So I think she knows this was a cat.

If you are sensitive for these things, then don't look.

I know that I used to be squirmish when I saw bones and such when I was younger, but they are so interesting and helpful. They are perfectly molded to be a beautiful creature. The skull should help you out a helluva lot on your anatomy practice I'd say. :'3

Totally interesting OoO

You know, my grandpa dissected a lot of overran animals, or hunted deers, foxes, birds, ect. But he gave away all the animals he had, and he doesn't do it anymore for years. But I loved the deer skulls with the huge antlers.

Apparently cat skulls in particular are quite hard to get in tact as they are quite fragile and hard to get the skin off/ get clean without damaging them. According to one of my lecturers, that is.
I will say, most interesting skull I've handled belonged to a tigon... we had to guess what it was during an orientation type thing, and it wasn't quite tiger, wasn't quite lion and way too small for a liger. Very cool, and good to note that there is a distinct difference between tiger, lion, and not quite either.

Ooh nice, I always thought skulls are interesting too! Would like to own a fox skull, would be cool if I found one in the forest or something haha. Haven't seen many cat skulls, it looks interesting. Shame that the cat got hit by a car of course, like Kato said.
I wonder what your cat is thinking sniffing at it! XD But skulls are really cool! Have you seen an elephant skull btw? Creepy as hell x_x Looks like cyclops.

cool story: I've found a fox skull once on one of my lone meadow walks. I took it home and the same night something attacked our cat. There was terrible noise at the staircase, and when we opened the door, Kitka jumped in with her tail like bottlebrush and panic in her eyes (and she's quite a fighter, I saw her chasing a dog once). My mom told me to throw the skull away

ooh, thanks for the offer! What kind of fox would it be if I may ask (roadkill/natural death etc.?) Just not sure what kind of fox skulls are normally being sold, quite new to this haha and wouldn't want a ranched one etc., would feel a bit bad about that ;u; but thanks so much for the offer, will definitely think about it when I got some spare money to use hopefully soon.

We get fox skulls mostly from hunters which hunted foxes for population control

Fox skulls are cool! I am sure you can buy somewhere or maybe here on DA? I would love to have more to my collection, like deer mount or skull of a horse... but I don't have much space in my room for more :'D (student dorm)

Elephant skull are awesome , especially those mammoth ones!

Yeah will have to look into it! ^^ seen mostly US sellers and they can't ship to the EU and I wouldn't want a ranch fox, not sure about which kind of foxes are normally being sold. Best thing would be just finding one outside like I mentioned but if I could buy a similar kind of one would be good.
But ooh horse skull definitely sounds interesting! Even though true, would be quite a big one yea XD and elephant skull on the wall! I think I had some nightmares after seeing one years ago for the first time lol

haha, if I wasn't afraid it would break in the post I'd send you my mouse skull to go with your cat skull :3 -- [link]
This is really neat :3 Sad the poor thing died as result of a car but at least now it's immortalized and loved, right? Great reference too!

I have always found skulls and the like to be fascinating as well. I truly love seeing the images of the replicas that have the carving in them, though for reasons my own don't quite care for when real skulls are changed into to crazy pieces of art. To me, seeing what makes us, well Us is beauty and true art in its self, not much more should be done to alter it, but I like the skull, have always wanted a canine skull, and that of a boar, simply because any type of boar skull looks like something not of this world.

agreed. everything around us and our bodies is art. Just simply everything functions perfectly. I would love to have a complete skeleton of a feline paw someday as well, or a whole feline skeleton.
Traditonal taxidermy is another thing that facinates me a lot and hope to do someday myself on a deer.
