I believe Eamon started taking care of Alistair when he was still single, and that he only married Isolde by the time Alistair was like, 6 or something. My comics will show it like that.

Oh, by the way, since Eamon looked so old in the game when he was supposed to be much younger then Loghain (says the stolen throne book), I concluded that he's some kind of Benjamin Button that has always looked old, so that's why he looks the same 20 years before the blight xD
