This was not going well for Scarlet. Not well at all.
Ashes and Vinny had managed to keep the battle out on the hillside for hours, giving the grass type the advantage of being in his native environment. Both pokemon were on their last legs - this battle couldn't go on for very much longer...
Petal Dance! "No!" Scarlet shouted as her Aggron began to topple. Stumbling, Bear fell backwards, managing to land on his back in the entrance of the cave.
Vinny strode over to the fallen pokemon. Bear didn't seem to have anything left in him... was this fight really over? Vinny could take no pride in this victory - not in taking another pokemon's life...
"Did... did we do it? Did we win?" Ashes ventured to ask, barely believing her eyes. She glanced over to Scarlet, wondering how she would react.
Scarlet was smiling.
"You underestimate us, Ashes. Bear was bred by Champion Steven Stone himself.
"He's sturdier than he looks."
Bear's blue eyes suddenly flashed open, full of life and energy. This was one fight he could not lose - he had spent his whole life protecting Scarlet, and he refused to stop now.
There was no time for Vinny to react - Bear was suddenly sitting up, claws digging into the floor of the cave. His only warning was a brief, quiet rumble before Bear released a Stone Edge, tearing into Vinny's petals, flinging him up from the floor of the cave.
Bear slowly stood, weakened, but steady. This battle was his now. He would not lose.

Aaaaand that's my entry xD this was rough to finish - I managed to accidentally save a half-finished product as a PNG and not a MDP, and all my layers got compressed into one, which made shading extremely difficult. But, I've pulled it off! On the last day xD

And before I get called out on this, Bear is NOT winning in the last panel, the tide of battle is simply turning in his favor. So. Just making sure that's clear >3>"
