If he backfires EVERY prank, that makes him a Gary Stu. That means he's completely errorless, and generally hated in the community for it. The female counterpart is a Mary Sue.
So maybe instead of having him backfire EVERY prank, make him fall for them about 45% of the time. Otherwise he's gonna be generally hated among fans due to being flawless.
