By now, I'm sure people can tell that I like Cillian Murphy. A lot.
I also liked the movie Red Eye... if only for the [here's my shallow moment] 'visuals'. Ahem. Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy... beautiful people. *_*
Ahem.
Onto the picture... I just saw the ref pic and liked it. And I felt like I wanted to draw another portrait! It's been a little while now. I'm pleased with this on the whole. There is a kind of walkthrough for it on my screen caps.

This one took me about... 17 hours, in the space of 2 days, using Photoshop. It's 3.30am here. So I'm going to bed!

how did you make his suit? it's not plain black, but "dotty". You used a texture? Or some special brush? Or how was it done?

Thank you! I used 'Noise' to make the texture on the suit, though if I were to do this picture again today, I'd probably use a brush as it looks a lot more realistic with those!

I've been looking for a face to match a character I'm writing about (I'm an author) for months now- and I've found it!! You did the look perfectly. Just one problem- my character's a woman- with long auburn hair! I can't win!

omg when i saw a headshot of him on IMDB when i was looking up batman begins (this was at least like half a year before the movie came out) i became like obsessed w/ cillian... everytime i see him on a commercial or something i scream, but my sister's like "okay, that's enough"

I found the step by step screencaps very interesting. I was wondering; what motivates you to sit for 17 hours to makes an almost identical picture. I've just recently come across these kinds of work, and while they're stunning, I just can't figure out why someone would want to copy a photograph??
Please don't take this as a insult of any kind. I really think this is beautiful and very impressive work I'm just curious.
And btw..you couldn't have picked a better objekt - Cillian Murphy is gorgeous! I highly recomend that you see "Disco Pigs".
