Likely a spare body for extreme uses. Her head seems to almost be independent of her body. In the first chapter her head was being a distraction while he finished her body and shortly thereafter she was disappointed that she wasn't equipped with great weapons for fighting evil.
It really is a great series.
But so comical as well. Why not repair her eyes instead of having her wear glasses?

Well that is kind of a usual thing in Manga and Anime, seems smaller characters pack a lot of power. I think I remember from the cartoon, Arale split the Earth in two.
