Description Hi,

Here the new version of the Beautiful Brawler game. The new features are:

-Two types of attacks! Combune the weak and strong attacks to apply powerful (sticky figures)combos! Try jumping and pressing the strong attack button while in the air!

-Smash the trash cans to get health suplies!

-The backgroung is moving now! Finally she is going to somewhere!

-And a lots of fixes in B.B. moves. In the code, not in the graphics.

There still a lot of work to be done. The next installments will be cutscenes, heart pickups and supermoves. I would like very much if you guys report any error or strange thing you notices. I would like to hear comments and sugestions as well!

Yep, The platform shooter was an attempt to make a engine for two projects. But i aborted it because the development on flash was too demandind. I will try to make with others tools, like unity or fusion.

Yeah, what I've seen/worked with in flash seems a pain. (of course my copy is so old it says Macromedia on the box )

I tried using Apache/Adobe Flex, which compiles to flash, but it didn't have the same support for media files, it was more of a general purpose visual programming language.

I still can't make flv videos.
(my flash is pre-flv and flex can't do it, and for that matter VLC can't convert to save its volunteer programmers' lives - crashes every damned time I try to make an mp4!)

Plus flash is a serious memory hog anyway, I remember games like farmville that had about 5MB of actual content requiring 150MB+ of RAM to run.

Unity seems promising, but its also a bit slow/RAM heavy, at least in the demos I've seen so far.


Its too bad Elecbyte hasn't made MUGEN open source (though they've apparently discontinued development on it at v1.1), surely someone could adapt it into a side-scroll fighter.

Yeah, flash is a thing in the past now, it's good for animations though.

I am studying Unity andΒ  fusion. I bought Gamemaker studio too, I heard it's a good tool for 2D games. But it would be nice to have something like MUGEN for beat'em ups. But a versus fighter with muscular girls isn't a bad idea either.

It's alright. I was only testing the frame count. But in the final version when the time finish the hero dies.

24 frames. I tried 30 but 24 turned better.

well i just think u can add more detail and make for smoother animations with higher fps...26 is kinda in the middle (or atleast its the one i usually use)

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I tried 26 frames but i remembered i set all the animations to play in 24 frames. The game code is set to execute in 24 frames as well.

24 fps isn't that slow. The versions i posted don't have the background and the effects. In the Earth Defenders project i experiencied a terrible slowdown when comes more than three fighters in the screen, reducing to 12 fps, the game gameply became more smooth. I gonna test it more.

oh yea i forgot to consider that...maybe its just cuz my comp can handle flash relatively well...but yea if u plan on publishing this then its good that u considered other's comps as well...

Nice done ! Are you planning to add a level-system, with attacks/moves evolving ? (or even muscles evolving ? )

Anyway : seems to get better and better. A bit hard to play on a french keyboard, thought.

Yes, her atributes evolves when she levels up. But her looks keep in the way. If the graphics were 3D, this would be a piece cake. One solution to this would be when she evolves, she turns in a another character with another move set(like altered beast). The earth defender game uses this concept. When i finish this one i will take it again. With better graphics, of course.

Don't worry about the commands, i will solve in the next version.

WOW. Seems to be a lot of work !

Since I did a very (I really mean VERY) little of programmation in the first semester at university, I can pretty good immagin the work that is behind ... especially when you got to draw every move. Respect !

Besides, I still think it is funny to do (yes, I actually DO like programmation. I just can't stand math, as the good chemist I am )

Yes, it's fun to program games. My least favorite part is the testing to find errors. Fixing the errors may be fun too. The prop coding(thrash can) gave me some serious headaches! But the thing is working(so far)!

I agree. Something similar to Altered Beast. She has to smash a particular object or beat a particular opponent who might be a little stronger than the rest. And after she defeats them, her muscles grow bigger.

got stuck in throw position after using throw to finish of first bad guy, threw him of right edge of screen. Timer continued counting, but I couldn`t move.

Love the graphics, and other than that it is playing pretty smoothly.

okay, I think I know what happened... I misread the combo instructions and during what I believe was the light combo I pressed both the light & hard buttons, it locked in the stick frame showing both hands forward, since there was nothing to hit me afterward and reset the state I was stuck that way.
