It's like a controlled Great Ape, the peak of a saiyan's powers. Super saiyan is basically a way for a saiyan to transcend their bodies normal capabilities.

I can't remember what the whitte part of the eye is called but False SS Ape's is black. You could open it in Paint and use zoom.
