This one looks like it's right out of that era we call "The Birth Of Hot Rodding" Very nice shot; MikeZ.

Thanks a lot Gil.

There's a lot of Aussies & Kiwis running there, maybe they follow the example of Burt Munroe?

Yes, the worlds fastest Indian.  Have you ever traveled there?

I've never been to Bonneville, but I went to El Mirage in 98. And even if we never found the SCTA event, I'm really happy to have driven across this magic place, great souvenir.

And this year, it was clearly not the right year to go to Bonneville, the Speed week was cancelled, too much water!

Now that would be disappointing for those that attended, especially o/seas visitors.  I went to Death Valley a couple of years ago, it had rained heavily there, pools of water everywhere.

There was a lot of flora and fauna on the way to Death Valley but nothing there, just tourists.  I've been to Lake Eyre in central Australia when it had water, the bird life was amazing, and you're right the desert is very dangerous if it rains heavily.

I remembered a lot of tourists around the visitor center, in Death Valley, and absolutely no one a few miles around. Strange?????

I'm sure they are great wild life area in Australia. Maybe one day... but it's a long long trip to go down under.

I added three shots of Death Valley to my gallery as a result of our conversation.  Australia is a long trip from Europe or North America and when you're here it's a long trip to to get to the various tourist destinations.  I reckon more Aussies have been to London, Paris or New York then have been to Darwin or Alice Springs.

Nice pics. I didn't remember Death Valley as sad.
Alice Springs seems to be a fantastic place to go. As red as Bryce Canyon!

It's good, -4c at night 36 to 40c through the day.  From there you go to Mt Connor, Uluru and the Olgas.  Central Australia is so flat at sunset or sunrise tyre grooves pick up the red and cast a shadow.

You're welcome it's these exchanges with other deviants that keep me being a member, because frankly most of the so called art is crap.
