* Sakura was walking down a hallway, a stack of papers in her arms*

Sakura: I can't believe Professor Grey made me take all these papers to the teacher's lounge

*She passed by a window but stopped. Going back she looked out of the window to see a figure laying down in the grass idly. The figure had black hair and he was wearing a rock shirt under his uniform*

Sakura: Isn't that...Van Maki?

*Sakura stared at him for a while, a feeling of dread bubbling in the pit of her stomach. She quickly turned her head and went to the office. *

Sakura: *enters room* Hello, I'm here to drop off some papers

Teacher: Ah yes, you can just put them there

*Sakura placed the papers down then bowed and exited the room. She was about to go back to class when she decided against it. *

Sakura: I can't allow a student to skip class. *she headed to where she spotted Van*

*The place was an open field with nothing but grass,pine trees, and bushes surrounding it. Sakura noticed that when you get to a certain distance, the view from the window that overlooked her class wasn't visible. *

Sakura: So this is where he runs off to, not bad

*Sakura neared Van and watched him. He was lying down in a relaxed position. His hair was covering his eyes so she couldn't tell if he was asleep or not. Sakura sighed and squatted down in front of him so that she was directly in front of his face.*

Sakura: Oh, Van Maki! You can't be here, you don't want to be counted as skipping do you?

Van: *silence*

Sakura: *sighs* I know you aren't asleep now get up.

*When he didn't reply, Sakura reached out and was going to smack his shoulder when a hand stopped her. Van lifted his head and his gold eyes were filled with amusement and playfulness. It made Sakura shiver.*

Van: What do you want, teacher's pet?

Sakura: *yanks her hand from his grip* I'm here to keep you from getting suspended again.

Van: That's impossible since I've never been suspended before.

Sakura: *huffs* Keep acting like that and you will

Van: *chuckles* Alright, I'll come back.

Sakura: Thank you!

Van: After I finish my nap

Sakura: *rolls eyes* I should have known better.

Van: How about you take a nap too. You're always so diligent how can you find time to actually relax?

Sakura: I don't have time to play

Van: Why not? What's so important that you'd drag yourself ragged?

Sakura: It's so I can-!

*A silence enveloped them. Van looked at Sakura to see that she had her head down and her bangs covered her eyes. His eyes narrowed before he looked up at the sky."

Van:...is it because of me?

Sakura: *looks up shocked* W-what are you t-talking about?

Van: Don't play dumb. I've seen how you look at me. Like I'm your worst nightmare come true. I know your afraid of me but what I don't understand is why? Why do you fear me when we haven't even meet each other?

Sakura: *looks down then answers tearfully* It's not that I'm scared of you....in fact it's the complete opposite. You...you remind me of someone very dear to me. Someone who I've known all my life and who I have trusted since I was little. That person has a very important duty and because of that...he had to leave.

Van: *silent*

Sakura: When he left, you don't know how bad it hurt. I was certain that we wouldn't split ways. Not only that but with him gone it was like the rest of our little group couldn't withstand. Someone else left and the other person became sorrowful. I couldn't take it so I ran away. I RAN AWAY BECAUSE I WAS WEAK!!!!!!!

*She screamed the last part out with tears streaming down her cheek*

Sakura:*hiccups* ...But then...then I saw you. And you reminded me so much of the person most important to me that it frightened me. It made me think that the same thing would happen again. *she wipes her eyes, sniffling*

Van:....you...are an idiot

Sakura*shocked*: What.....What!!!!!

Van: *sits up* I'm not the person you think I am. I'm not someone who'll be with you forever and I certainty won't say I will protect you.

Sakura: *starstruck* EHHHHHHH

Van: But I won't let someone hurt you or Clara or even Lacie. I'm certain of it.

Sakura: .....Really...then I won't give up either. *stands up* I'm not going to let the same thing happen again. This time I'll protect Sora!!!

Van: *stands up* I see, well you do that.

*Sakura nodded then smiled at Van. He gave a slight smirk in return.*

HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*The two looked behind them to see Lacie and Clara. Clara seemed confused while Lacie looked pissed*

Lacie: GET AWAY FROM MY VAN!!!!!!!!!!

Sakura: Oh boy

Lacie: *walks up to Sakura* What do you think you are doing?

Sakura: Oh shut up, I'm not flirting with him. I don't have time to deal with your insane self.

Clara: *walks up to Van* What were you two talking about?

Van: Teacher's pet here was lecturing me about the importance of attendance and what not.

Sakura: Something that you need to work on that's for sure.

Lacie: Don't go around telling my Van what to do or what not to. That's my job.

Sakura: *raises her eyebrow* Wow you really are crazy. Since when do you get a say in me and Van's relationship?

Lacie: There is no relationship!

Sakura: Oh really* walks up and kisses Van's cheek to Lacie's ire and Clara's shock* What do you have to say now?

Lacie: *glowers* Oh you are so dead!!!!!

Sakura: *laughs then skips off* You'll have to catch me first

*While Lacie ran after Sakura, Clara grinned then looked at Van*

Clara: I don't know what you did but thanks

Van: I didn't do much, it was all Sakura. However, I have this strange feeling

Clara: What feeling?

Van: Like I've had this conversation somewhere before.

A memory plays in the back of both Sakura's and Van's mind. Of a brown haired little girl with a pink bow and a little blonde boy. The girl was crying and the little boy was comforting her. His blue eyes shined with confidence as he assured the girl that he would grow strong enough to protect her. The little girl wiped her eyes and smiled at the boy, her dark blue eyes shining with trust. Neither of the four knew how their fates would intertwine and grow to bring strength to themselves and others......

The second part of Dreamscape. Here Sakura resolves her fear of Van and becomes determined to grow stronger. Just like in a time long ago, with two kids in a similar situation. Hope you like.
