Some people have... basically advocated for localizations that were like this, because "changes are always bad". I was trying to show how clinging excessively close to the Japanese version could actually be a problem.

Desu, from my experience, is used to end sentences, sometimes with a "ka" to denote a question.
(my mini-japanese-dictionary says "is/are/am")

So for the record, desu is actually supposed to go at the end of the sentence, not in the middle of it.

Random Fact: The "su" part isn't necessarily emphasized- it can end up sounding like just "s". The emphasized one is "tsu".
