Yay! Another illustration that I'm actually happy with!Jus' a grackle demon, sittin' on a telephone pole.
Done entirely in Adobe Illustrator (arrg! vector class!
), with only hand-drawn shapes and tranparencies. Scanned in and vectorized the background shape from a painted square.

I love grackles and starlings, as well as crows and ravens.
But, the other two have been so over-used, I wanted to highlight one of the lesser-noticed birds.
It adds to his concept, as well. Hanging out with his other trash-bird friends.

that's so interesting! it's true, they are overused. I always liked grackles because they have that rainbow iridescent thing happening.

So cute! I love the pose, and how the tail comes down like that - it's so birdlike. It makes him a very believable character.
And props to you for doing so well with vector imaging... I can't wrap my head around it. XD
