It had been about two hundred years since he last fed on fresh blood. Which was a very short amount of time, all things considered. But blood bags were pretty much vampiric junk food, and he HAD gained a couple pounds. But none of that mattered. Not when the one person you had to look good for died of lung cancer those two hundred years ago. After the day he laid his husband to rest, at the age of thirty seven, Conrad Achenleck had removed himself from society.

This was the vampires only option. So he thought, anyway. This way, he couldn't fall in love or make new friends just to be crushed when their life meters ran out. Casmiro and Finas stuck around for a while, checking up on him, showing him the ropes, and teaching him how to use his powers to his advantage. Somehow, he still couldn't work up the courage to bite someone.

The night was like any other summer night. Street lights glowed dimly and the faint sounds of gun shots and car horns could be heard in the distance. Turning a corner, the vampire made his way into an alley and counted to himself. The third door in. Pulling out his keys he unlocked the door to rickety, most likely unsafe, abandoned building of the old city. Looking around, the artist sighed. He had left it exactly the way Worth had it before he died.

A few changes had been made yes. But they were necessary changes. Like a new bed, every decade or so, a new door and new locks, stuff like that. All in all, it was the same shit hole it had been. Sighing, Conrad made his way to the fridge and placed his blood packets inside, then made his way slowly to the bed room. Flopping down on the bed, the vampire relaxed and turned his head to look at a picture of Worth by the lamp on the bed side table. A small smile crossed his lips as he remembered when the photo was taken.

Hanna had been given a new camera for his birthday and had been very over zealous about it, as usual. The red head had managed to get a snap shot of a pouting Conrad with Worth's arm slung over the vampires shoulders, a huge smirk on his face.

Sighing to himself. "Why haven't you come back yet?" The vampire wondered aloud. After Worth died Hanna had helped an oracle with a small cultist problem that had been plaguing her for centuries. As a reward for helping her, she gave each of them a special reading. Conrad's reading was rather depressing. He was destined to be alone for the better part of two centuries before the reincarnation process began to run its course again.

This is why he had stayed in the doctors grungy office all these years. He sold his condo and belongings, save for his computer and art supplies. Suddenly a loud mechanical sound screamed into the building from outside. CRASH. "WHAT THE HELL?"

Rushing to find out what was going on, the vampire stood stunned at the sight. They were demolishing the building. FUCK FUCK FUCK NO… They couldn't do that. Not this place. Not here. NOT NOW. Quickly rushing outside waving his arms frantically, the vampire shouted. "STOP." A stocky man stuck his head out the window of the giant wrecking machine and glared. "Who the fuck do ya thin ya are, ladie? Ye jus can't run bout all willeh nilleh like tha. Ahm tryin at demolish this here building."

The Irish man exited his machine and stood to face Conrad. "At least let me get a few things out of here before you continue." The raven pleaded with the man. "Ahm sorry bucko. Ets got at come doun now er Ah git fired." The man made to turn towards the wrecker but was stopped by Conrad's none to gentle hand on his shoulder. "You don't have a choice." Eyes glowing bright yellow, the vampire hissed loudly. The Irishman was frozen on the spot. Completely unable to move.

It was about an hour before the man was unfrozen, in a complete daze. Looking around he didn't find a single trace of the vampire anywhere. "Wha the?" Shrugging it off, he made his way to the machine and continued demolishing the building.

Conrad stood on the roof top of a near by building, tears flowing down his cheeks. All those memories, ruined. Lost forever in a wrecked heap of bricks, rotting wood, and glass. Suddenly a gentle hand was placed on either of his shoulders. "Hurts doesn't it kid?" Casmiro said softly and Finas only nodded. "Lets go Conrad. The sun is about to come up."

The trio raced off into the New City and to the ritzy penthouse suite where Casmiro and Finas lived. Conrad had managed to save a few of Worth's things. Like his fur trimmed lab coat, the ratty desk chair, a few pictures, and quite a few of the mans old knives and scalpels. He couldn't let those go.

Sighing sadly to himself once more, the vampire let himself weep. "When are you coming back Luce? I need you. I-I love you." Clutching the blondes old lab coat, the artist forced himself into a dreamless sleep.
