Description
I finally finished this piece after about two years. I think my hangup about it was doing the water effects (still need to work on those). I finally managed to break through that block and complete this. There is a version with clouds plus an "alt" version with different hair and bikini colors.
Drawn with Carmine Red pencils and inked and colored in Clip Studio Paint.
One last thing...do not expect me to post AI art here or anywhere else. The current concerns about AI art are extending to not just art but writing (see the WGA strike in Hollywood right now), and no, just because you are not in favor of AI art does not make you a "luddite". In fact, if someone calls you a luddite as an insult it's clear they have no idea of the origins of the word.
I use digital tools for my art. I have a high-end PC and the latest game consoles. To paraphrase Harlan Ellison--I don't hate technology, I just hate the uses it's being put to. If the creators of these AI gen programs had just, I don't know, come to artists and writers and musicians first and worked with us I would have been open to this. But they didn't, and instead did an end-run around us. They're doing a tech equivalent of what Roy Lichenstein did to comic book artists like Russ Heath and Hy Eisman. What pisses me off more are the insults, declaring that artists and writers and musicians are "obsolete" and we should "adapt or die" and "resistance is futile".
That last one is a real chuckler--I mean, I guess some folks want to be the Borg, now?
The mental toll this is taking on artists is very real, and I've already read posts from artists who have considered either stopping altogether or worse yet, considering suicide. And the media isn't helping at all.
I'll still keep doing my art, because it's the one thing I have been doing consistently for most of my life. And I'll still keep starting out with hand-drawn artwork, using digital tools to help in its creation (or just using traditional tools). Being against AI art does not mean you are anti-technology. It just means that you still value art created by humans and are tired of seeing what amounts to wholescale theft of human art to create...some simulacron that has bright colors but no soul whatsoever. Humans are still necessary, especially in the arts.
Rant mode off.
