Did they fix the grinding mechanic? I love the original, but grinding was really clunky and imprecise

From some gameplay I have watched, it seems a little finicky. I have seen where the character should've landed on the rail, but it doesn't detect it. There were also times I saw where if there is a gap between rails in a semi-narrow walkway it is nearly impossible to get off. I only just found this via the JSRF Garage group.

Yeah, I've gotten to play JSRF since and grinding only got worse. In general that game's not as fun to me as the original was, though the soundtrack was top tier, as always.

I don't know I never had the original other than a steam remastering that never worked. Sometimes my controller stuck so that was just me, I think the grinding is fine.
