Description
The Zupashark is a large pelagic predatory pleurognathian species native to the oceans of bap-1138. From a distance, it looks practically identical to a shark, but under closer inspection, it has quite a few differences, it's most notable being it's laterally opening jaws, which are actually a highly specialized first pair of limbs. The second pair of limbs became antennae, but were then recessed in favor of hydrodynamics. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th pairs of limbs became the creature's gills, located around what could be called the pelvic reigon. And the 6th pair of limbs became stabilizing appendages, located around where the gills are, hence why they're called pelvic fins instead of pectoral fins. Like earth sharks, Zupasharks have a cartilagenous skeleton, although that isn't too unique considering all zupafinks have cartilage skeletons. They also have copper based blood, hence why their mouths are a bluish color, to pump this blood around, they have two hearts instead of one, since hemocyanin is less efficient than hemoglobin. They also have a basic eye structure more similar to that of a cephalopod than a chordate, meaning they lack a blind spot.Related content
