With Hope at my side, I decide not to go into any specific building to clean today. Instead I plan to clean around the outer structures. We start from where I meet her at the edge of the Woods walking along the perimiter of the fence and back area of the peccu barn before heading to the back of the barn and making our way between the desert stables and main house towards the tool shed. Depending on how able of body I am - Gallow's End is a lot of ground to cover! - We'll head towards and around the Collector's Tree.

For a while it seemed like you and Fireflies were alone in the woods. You picked up a few discarded pieces of trash, but nothing big.
Eventually you came to a clearing with a small stream crossing through it. Here you found the mess you'd been looking for.
It seemed someone had come here for a barbecue and simply left everything afterwards. Lumps of coal, greasy rotting food and wrappers were strewn everywhere. Fireflies snorted in disgust. You had to agree and stepped forward to get to work when something strange caught your eye.
The stream's water wasn't the usual clear blue. In fact it was a sickly green color! You stared at it for a while before shaking yourself.
What should you do? Investigate the peculiar stream or clean up the remains of the barbecue?

You don't have to search long. In the entrance hall you meet a harried looking Kana, her hair a dripping wet mess and her clothes soaked through. She's also cursing creatively, but stops when she catches sight of you.
"Hey, it's fortunate that I met you. A pipe has broken in the cellar. The whole basement is turning into a lake. Can you help me fix it, please?"
You are just about to agree, when hurried footsteps followed by Cait reach you.
"Oh, guys! Good thing I found you! Someone must have left a window open. The office is a mess! And I think some kind of creature got in, too. I really need your help to catch it."
Torn you look between the two. Who are you going to help?

(...REALLY?! Choices...choices...)
I really would like to see the creature destroying the office - but a busted pipe turning the basement into a lake is a whole lot more pressing at this moment. I apologize to Cait for not being able to help him with his problem and quickly explain that Kana and I have to fix a broken pipe in the basement. Though I'm not so sure our task will give us enough time, and I cannot speak for Kana, I do promise that if he still hasn't caught and fixed up the office by the time we've completed our task - I'll be more than happy to help (even if I'm as soaked through as Kana in the end).

A few Ipsis turned to look at you from their stalls, but since you didn't carry any treats for them, the quickly lost interest. You try to take in the scene. Hay, sand and some rotten food is littering the floor. It's not as bad as it could be, but it still needs cleaning.
You grab your broom and start working.
It takes a while, but eventually you reach the back of the stables. Turning to go back to the door, something catches your eye in the empty stall next to you. It looks like an old wooden chest. Who would put something like that in the stables?
Just you step forward to investigate, a rustling sounds from the haystack behind you.
Now, what do you investigate first?

Today I decide to head on over to the tall tower of a tool shed with Volkan . I'd realized it may be in need of re-organization and I intend to start on that today!
What is my plan?
Well! I plan to first clear out all the tools so that I can more easily sweep and dust out the shed. Once that is taken care of, I'll then have an easier time of looking to see if repairs are needed to the structure to the best of my abilities. Then I will replace the tools to their proper location (cleaning the tools as I go and setting aside any unusable ones). If I've noted anything in the building that needs to be repaired (broken floorboard, water-damaged roof, etc), my next stop will be to the main house to let them know!

When you reach the shed you realize that the task you set yourself is bigger than expected. What a mess!
With a look to Volkan you both steel yourself and set to work.
Tools of every size and shape are dragged into the light as well as an assortment of old furniture and unidentifiable rubble. It takes the best part of three hours to carry every item outside and it's hard work.
You dececide to take a short break before starting the actual cleaning. Sitting down with your back against the wall next to the open door you call for Volkan to join you.
He comes trotting over to you carrying an old leather bag. Intrigued you reach for it, when a mighty crash sounds from the pile of tools.
Should you investigate the noise or follow your curiosity and look into the bag first?

Huge piles of hay greet the Vulpecc as she enters the barn. Some of it looks fresh, but some is clearly quite old. She starts to carefully separate the old hay from the new, trying hard to avoid touching any mold.
The work is hard and dirty and seems to be a never-ending task, but Fire Flies stays stubborn. She can do this!
Suddenly she hears a rustling in the pile to her right. Staring hard she doesn't see any movement. But she could check to make sure. But hold on! Was that a shadow moving at the back of the barn?
Where should she look first?

The back of the barn was badly lit. The twilight lengthening every shadow and casting a gloomy feel over the place. Fireflies crept forward carefully, sniffing the air as she went.
A few more steps into the shadows and - She yelped. Two eyes had appeared right in front of her!
Flinching back into a shaft of light she waited. Slowly the eyes came closer and the darkness of the shadow formed a body. It was a T'Cal.
Its tongue was tasting the air as it slithered closer, but Fireflies stood her ground. Up close in the light the reptile was less scary.
Fireflies yipped at it and got a hiss in return. Nosing the cool scales, the Vulpecc eventually even dared to lick its snout earning what sounded like a chuckle.
Happy that she had found a new friend Fireflies signalled the T'Cal that it should follow her back to her owner. Maybe she could convince her two-leg to keep her new friend.

The area around the pond is not as bad off as the rest of Gallow's End, but its shore is still in need of cleaning. Left behind trash and dead plant material litter the sand.
Velveteen sniffs along the ground to find the worst spots while you track after her picking up everything you come across.
You carry on this way until you have reached the other side of the pond. Velveteen is quickening her step. She's found an abendoned picknick basket.
You start to follow, but wait! You could have sworn, you heard a whine coming from the bushes to the side.
What should you investigate first?

Velveteen looks from me to the basket, giving a determined swish of her tail before trotting back in my direction. It's as if she's saying "I'll be back for you, just wait...!"
Together, we carefully approach the bushes. I motion for Velveteen to stay a couple of steps behind me as I inspect the source of the whine... if it is in fact an injured creature, there's a chance it might lash out to protect itself. "Hello, is someone there?" I say softly, parting some of the branches to get a closer look.

Carefully peeking between the leaves you spot two wide eyes staring back at you.
You work your way forward, parting the twigs and branches to find a small puppy dog with his paw caught in a tangled bit of twine. It's whining pittifully, but still tries to lick your nose as soon as you're close enough.
Gently you free the small creature and take it in your arms. It's shivering and pressing itself to your chest. It doesn't wera a collar, maybe it was abandoned.
You could give the little one to one of your pets as companion.

My intent is to ask for permission to bathe the animals in the agency's care - if needed. Yes, a hefty task. With so many animals under the staff's care. But an important task, nonetheless! I can't help but think the animals would be grateful for a thorough scrubbing before being replaced into their newly cleaned stalls. It would probably require more than just my help though. I could either clean the stalls out while someone else cleans the animals or vise versa.
The peccu barn is where I would like to start, since I have already done a bit of work there to begin with and it is not as bad-off as the barn.

It's a wet affair, but also fun. The Peccu enjoy a good scrubbing, but not all of them are keen on being dowsed as well.
Soon you are just as soaked through as the sponge you use, but there's a smile on your face.
Charlotte meanwhile is keeping well away from the water. Instead she uses her many eyes to keep watch that all Peccu get their turn. It seems playing herd suits her.
After a while you realize that you're scrubbing a Peccu that you are certain you washed already. With a shrug you get back to work. But two Peccu later it stands before you a third time looking at you expectantly. It obviously enjoys the wellness day very much. You go through the motions another time, but the Peccu just keeps coming back.

When Sian and you reach the tree you are met by a very distressed Iago. The area around you looks like a chicken farm exploded. There are feathers everywhere!
Iago flutters around you nervously. It appears a strong wind rattled the branches and overturned a few nests. Now Iago would like you to help gather all lost feathers and return them to him.
You agree to help him and Sian and you split up to work faster. A while later you have cleared up the area, but a few feathers turned up broken or otherwise damaged.
Looks like you have to find new feathers. Looking at Sian, one option would be to carefully and gently pluck feathers from his wings. Otherwise you'll have to go on a hike around Gallow's End trying to find feathers that were discarded. A trip like that could take all day...
What are you going to do?

Back to the Main House! This time though, it would be the kitchen that got my attention. Arming myself with gloves and some sponges, I pushed opened the door and nearly left the room. It wasn't that it was bad. Just that there were dishes here. Dishes there. I had no idea what was and was not clean so moving them out of the sink, I turned the water on to let it heat up and went looking for some soap. The first stop in my search: Under the sink.

The soap is right there. As are several other cleaning agents as well as an old slightly damp party hat. With a small shake of your head you take the soap. It feels damp, too.
Crouching down, you peer into the gloom under the sink. It's.... well, disgusting would probably be a good description. The sink's pipe is obviously leaking and mold is already taking residence down there. Yuck.
Gazing around you spot a plastic bucket. It seems to be the right size. You could put it under the pipe and hurry with the dish washing.
Or you could ask Cait for a wrench and try to fix the pipe, even though that would mean a lot more dirty work.
What are you going to do?

Seeing the plastic bucket, I stuck it under the pipe and went to find Cait to ask for a wrench. It may not be easy. Or clean, but if I fix the pipe now, I could stop loads of problems before they begin. What's getting dirty now when it would save loads of time later? Besides, this way I wouldn't have to rush through the dishes when it was finally done.

Cait shows you where his tools are kept and he accompanies you to the kitchen.
Armed with a heavy wrench you disappear under the sink, while Cait tries to bring a bit of order to the stacked dishes. He's whistling a tune while he works and you can't help the small smile that creeps onto your face. Despite the disgusting work you're doing.
Therefore you notice right away when he suddenly stops. Crawling out from under the sink you turn to see him standing with a pensive look on his face and something in his hands.
"Hey", he says when you notices your attention. "I found this egg in a old frying pan. Wonder who put it there. It looks healthy yet. Maybe you want it?"
