My OC Yurika-chan ... and my very bad attempt at realisim....it's hard to do realisitic off the top of my head. It always comes out still a bit cartoony.
Yurika is about 5-6 years old. and she has a monster sized pet chinchila named Picha-chan

I read some of the comments about how the eyes are a bit big and it is cartoony. That's true, however, I like the big eyes and more cartoon feel of it. It's not absolute realism, but it still looks very well done. I like the big eyes because I think they show off her innocence. I suck at proportions, so perhaps her head is a little too big, but I'm not the one to decide that XD. I am cursed with big head drawings.

Good job for taking a stab at a realistic portrait of a five year old. I can't draw little children for crap. Although I am trying to improve.

Well, it IS a bit cartoony, but not like manga at all. It may not be perfectly realistic, but it's amazing how good you are in other style - considering that manga is your specialty. Great job!

I had to do a report on them when I was in 7th grade...it was pretty interesting, because my partner actually had a couple. xD

They are! And they tend to get into fights. That's why if you have one, you should try to fatten it up so it's too lazy to move. xD
I'd rather have a mouse than a rat, fluffy and small...I haven't seen a rat in ages, though, so I could reconsider. C:

For someone who didn't look at a picture to draw this realisticaly, I think you did very well. Even if it does hold some cartoon like features, it still has a realistic feel. To me at least.

Over all it's not bad. You have to work on proportions. the eyes are definitely too big, the nose could be a little smaller and The ears are also too high, the top of the ear should line up with the top of your, just under the eye brow, the bottom of your ear should just above your lip.

well when I first started it the idea was I wanted her kinda facing down like forward but that didnt wrok out I guess XD and yeah I think the reason it looks so cartoony is I always make the eyes too big XD ... that's why it's easier to do realistic when I have an actual pic to look at. but thanks
