Personality

Brief description: Rune is the kind of hare that you will see going back and forth aimlessly if she has nothing to do. Though she might also look ready to take someone out while concentrating and mentally cursing the world for having to do stuff. Though with family she can be fairly good at staying still, able to stay in the same spot for hours to tell her siblings a story she heard from a traveling bard. The thing that unsettles them the most, is her rather monotonous way of telling the stories, and probably the reason she has never even thought about becoming a bard herself. She doesn’t give much inflection when she speaks, making it seem like she is bored all the time.

Despite seeming all around confident and comfortable with herself while working, she’s actually very self conscious and skittish, keen to feezing up when scared or nervous. It doesn’t take much to get her to do so either, yet she has the dream of being both emotionally and physically strong enough to be a soldier one day. It doesn’t really help that she can be a little prejudice of other species, assuming things from what others have told her. This does not mean she won’t give them a chance, she just will likely be jumpy.

History

Childhood
Born into a huge family, the hare was easily overwhelmed with whom to play with, having way too many siblings. She was one of eighteen other restless hopping mad, big footed hares. Of course from more than one liter, her mother having produced many liters with two different jacks. Not to mention countless cousins to play with too. She didn't interact much with her parents besides to nurse, very much distracted by being tackled by her siblings and cousins into playing games of tag in the fields. Granted, her parents were never keen to seeing them being out there, paranoid the foxes in particular, would pluck the kids off one by one. Not that they could really stop the bouncy children, since they were so hard to keep track of in such a vast area but were convinced to stay in groups of three. So if something did happen, one could stay back to try and help, while the other could come and get an adult to hopefully save the others. She never really understood why as a child, knowing they were part of the alliance of six, so it must be safe. No fox or wolverine or big birds would be monsterous enough to harm a weak little hare, right? That's what she believed, not that she ever met such creatures, rarely leaving the farm.

Teens
The first liter had moved out and some of the second as well, leaving ten of the original eighteen. As she started to get older and there were less paws to help, responsibility was being brought onto her shoulders and she had to start helping out on the farm. Well, it was that or house chores. Oh how she loathed tilling the ground and dealing with pests that ate the crops under her nose. Not to forget how horrid the hot summer days could be, blaring down on the darker summer pelt she dawned. Even if it was a tad thinner, it was still dense and heavy. With every passing day, she got more and more annoyed with the smaller rodents and bugs that partook in stealing the family's produce. Fairly often hearing her father mutter about how they might not survive the winter at this rate. A family friend came to visit and told them about what good a predator could be to rid of the problem; birds to take care of bugs and sharp teethed mammals to rid of the lemmings, vole and squirrels. Her mother quickly opposing such an idea, since they never had used such help before. Behind her parent's back; her and the brother she had gotten closest to(Morgant), went out in search for someone to deal with the infestation, in fear of their siblings going hungry.

The next city over, they found a larger creature with sharp fangs offering such aide, even though he wreaked of death, the naive siblings asked the good sized stranger to help rid of the nuisances. Bringing him back to the farm to do as he promised, they watched in pure shock at the savage way he dealt with the vermin. The blood, the smells, the cries, the full extent of terror the creatures showed brought the feeling of needing to vomit to Rune and Morgant. Then the worse happened, Morgant was face to face with the predator, frantically flailing in its jaws and screaming to get help. Rune asked what the silver beast was doing and it replied with a laugh, "Taking care of the rodent problem, as you asked little girl." She was staring in disbelief at the creature, watching her brother scream for her to run and go get help, she didn't budge. In no time at all, the rest of the family appeared to see what all the noise was coming from, and surprisingly fended the creature off with quick and nimble jabs and bites. She stayed frozen and alert the whole time, unable to will herself to join in the frey. However, she snapped to when her brother was dropped and the beast ran off, quickly hopping over to his side in worry. Using some vine, she tugged it tightly around his leg to slow the bleeding. Thankfully he survived and that was all that mattered to the family, not so much to Rune though. What she learned during those moments and caring for her brother every moment in his recovery was that she froze, she did nothing, she was pathetic. She wanted to become something else, someone else, someone not affraid. She wanted to be able to protect her kin and those around her. But how?

The rest of her teen days, she stayed in the house to nurse the injured to health, becoming a slight recluse in the process. She looked underweight and sickly, letting the rest of her kin eat first to their fill before touching anything herself, often resulting in barely anything to nibble on. With heavy paws, she also tried to let her mother rest and mentally recover from the ordeal, taking on her sibling's problems and doing chores around the house to keep everything running smoothly.

Adulthood
As time urged on, Rune had slowly but surely started to come out again to aide in farming, happy to see her brother heal and rarely left his side when out in the feilds. She was shook that he didn't blame her for any of it, when it was her that insisted on getting the help, he had merely agreed. And as her family feared, the food they had was minimal as winter threatened to approach. The ground was getting harder and harder to dig. Near the whole family was getting weaker. She had a mild desire to run off and become a soldier but knew it a silly idea for a hare. She will occassionally practice some fighting her uncle has taught her, on bushes. It's a little funny to watch when the bush fights back on occasion. The winter was harsh and visits to other locations was needed to survive.

When spring had come around, it was announced that her older sister was expecting babies, which meant some of the kids had to leave the home to move on with their lives. No room to fit who knows how many new little feet. It had taken a little bit of self talking but she has managed to find a little home of her own. Though she doesn't live alone, she brought along Morgant and her runt sister of the liter, Nia. Keeping the caution from her mother, about never living on her own, it's too dangerous. Her siblings help on the new farm, aiming to grow plenty of crops to share and maybe barter with others. (more to be add upon development)

Sexuality

Sexual orientation: Bisexual

Preferences: Someone nice, maybe a tad stoic or funny. Finds hares bigger than her often more appealing. A set of strong legs are pretty nice too. Someone that doesn't want kids.

Status: Single

Misc.

Appearance: During the summer she has a dark tan coat, not as dark as some but still plenty dark to make her dislike the sun. Right hind legs has no dark markings. In the winter it is a slightly fluffier off white pelt, with light grey-brown fur where her markings are dark in the summer. A little chubbier in the winter to keep warm. She keeps the black tips on her ears in both seasons. Her whiskers are very pominent, appearing more white in the summer and black in winter. Tail is very small, sometimes mistaken for not having one at times, though they are made up for with her huge ears.

Child count: 0

Scent: Smelling of dirt and weeds from farming.

Little Facts

-Loves to chew on twigs and bark.
