Description
Since I have already done a solo caricature piece of the band's front man, I figured it was time to do another featuring the whole band.

I also thought this piece would be a fitting tribute since their keyboard player Andy Fletcher; one of the group's found members, passed away not too long ago. I listen to quite a number of various bands and artists from the 80's, but Depeche Mode has quickly over the past couple of months become my top favorites from that decade.

This caricature job was little harder than my usual ones, mainly because this is my first one as a group shot. There was the challenge of making sure each of their faces did not look same. That has been one of the issues I've repeatedly ran into when getting into caricatures, all of them ended up having the same face.

I really had to look hard at a few old photos of the band members to really pick out their key facial features as aside from Gahan and Gore, most of them don't have any major ones that stuck out to me right away. But I was able to find some:

Going from left to right on the piece, Fletcher had his thick prominent chin, Gahan has his dark moody eyes, Wilder has his long slightly hooked nose, and Gore has his large bleached blonde hair.
I even played with different shapes as to heighten the different amongst each other.

Wanted this piece to have and overall 80s aesthetic with a slightly abstract feel as well. I feel I was able to pull it off, mostly.

This was done was mixture of various colored ball point pens.
