I agree. I don't understand how people can choose that over the beauty of a real horse.
I guess it might be that its simply much easier to draw for most people so they like it more.
I personally like mlp for the story and the characters in it.

the problem is many people choose the bases (every one's own decision) but what have you from great colour practices when you can't draw actually own creations/poses etc...
