Description
Her majesty appears once again! This was more practice with drawing backgrounds and I think I did alright... shes laying on a beach if you couldn't tell.Im also noticing that I really like making my drawings have deep shadows, and i wonder if i should keep that trend going

The hair moves quite naturally besides the tops of both the mane and the tail, and the detail in shading is quite impressive. I must admit, the anatomy and pose is rather off and confusing. The neck is a touch stalky and, in conclusion, makes Her Highness a little chubby. I understand you were aiming for a thick and realistic neck but since horses have such long necks this pose is awkward and looks uncomfortable. Most likely the neck would curve or stretch all the way outward rather than compress at the nape. The back leg is upward like it is uncomfortable to lay it down and also disappears behind the tail which should be making an impression or a bump behind it. At first glance I loved the shading with your light source and background, but the anatomy kind of ruined the hard work you put into it. It seems like you were so focused on the shading and coloring that you developed tunnel vision, and did not see that the body posture was off. Only one more thing, I loved the dramatization of shading but it doesn't give me much to look at. Most people who draw silhouettes will create a complicated or elegant pose to let the eyes wander, or even add different colors to shade with, the only things I really can enjoy are the details in the mane and tail and the light source. But I also notice that the wings' layering and texture is went along beautifully along with the eye, just keep in mind the objective of what you want a viewer to pay attention to. I hope this all helps you improve and creates some thoughts. Have a good day and take care~

Thank you for your honest and thorough critique!Β
I also felt that there was something off and unnatural about her pose and body shape (I very rarely draw horses laying down) so its nice to have someone tell me where the issues are, I also tend to get tunnel vision all the time so you were spot on with that as well.Β

Not a problem, I love getting and putting out critiques~Β
I have the same issue, looking in my own gallery it is quite obvious I pay attention to only certain parts of a picture and leave others rather "abandoned". I always worry about coming off as rude but I am so happy you saw my intent. To be honest I love it when people point out what I can't see myself. It seems I never notice something until someone tells me, just my case though. I am glad you found some good use to my critique and cannot wait to see how you improve in the future~

Yes your critique definitely helped! I took another look and immediately noticed what you were
talking about.Β Its very hard to find a good critiquer these days, most people Β
just say how nice something looks and then go on their way which may feel nice, but it doesn't
help the artist to improve their skills.

Queen Chrysalis, catching some rays...I guess even magical demons who feed on emotions need their Vitamin D!

Once again i'm really happy you like it, and i'll keep the chrysalis art coming Β
I had a lot of fun coloring her eyes (my favorite part of any drawing).Β
