Description Okie dokie...

I know this isn't amazing, but hey, TELL ME that it's not the best drawing in my gallery so far? I know that a lot of needs work, however I got to a point where I couldn't do anything more without ruining it, so I just let it be finished. So if I could, I would have liked to work on the mustache, clothes, and hair...among other things, but those stick out the most. I deliberately did not put too much work into the shirt because that wasn't the focus of it, and I was trying to soften the harsh light of the original photograph. But now that I see it in a smaller preview, maybe more attention would have helped. The mustache was hard, and I tried very hard to show the overbite, but alas that was all I got out of it.

The quasi-sepia (I was using Gimp to edit this, please forgive me) was just because I was sick of grayscale, and I think it's just a bit more effective for this, since my scanner's lamp is so harsh.

There might be some misalignment, despite my best efforts to eliminate it (my scanner is 9x12, and the original drawing is 11x14) but again, please thank Gimp and my horrible scanner. Rest assured that when I do get something better, many changes will be made.

Either way, have fun.

nice! If I had to critique it, I might say that you should push your value scale more. Right now the darkest thing on there is that one iris, and nothing else. All the shadows could be pushed a bit further to make it look more dynamic or realistic

but very nice job!

Oh shoot! Thanks for reminding me about the eye--I'd forgotten about it, and after working on this thing since January, I guess I got desensitized to it. The lighting in the original photo (here: [link] ) is pretty harsh--that side of his face is very dark...so after awhile I decided to soften it a bit in the drawing and honestly kind of forgot about how unbalanced the eyes were--though the left iris was actually significantly lighter before I remembered to darken it the other day

Anywho, thanks for the feedback! Having literally no training in any of this stuff makes each project much more trial and error, so I always appreciate anything anyone has to offer.
