Lacks hue and shading is too pillowish.

This hue is ok for the place of where will be these pots, but what do you suggest me for the pillow shading? I didn't noticed that.

Thanks for your feedback ^-^

I'm not feeling at my smartest at the moment so i'll lay off explaining, but heres two examples regarding lightsources and shading (made by me):

I agree for the shading example, it's like this one " [link] " But I still don't understand where I used pillow shading, I just did a darker outline.

Pillow shading is kinda like a technique to shade your objects in circulating pattern, from every direction and mostly aligned with outlines.

Here's a simple edit: [link]

- Two lightsources looks always better.
- Removed useless colours
- Fixed outlines
- Added Anti-aliasing
- Small doses of dithering

Well, I'm sorry but I don't agree on what you said.

Two lightsources? Depend of the materials used to creat this pot, and afaik argil don't got any reflect. Also, why two lightsources? My game got only 1 sun and light goes to the south west. (Night/Day still not implemented.)

About the colors limitation, come on, we left the snes.. using 1 more colors for the shading isn't as important as that!.. And IMO, this color was necessery.

Uh, talking about the outlines.. What did you made to them? It looks misshapen, argil is a good material, he can take the form that we want, so a bubble form is ok.

Oh and, why this dithering? Oo Same thing than the outline, the form can be bally-perfect, so afaik no need of this.

I'm sorry for my negativ comment, but I don't accept at all this comment.

A friend, coolkid782, did a remake of my pots, soon available on his dA, I will link it with my pots, imo it's way more better than my pots, I would like to get your opinions on it.

Thanks for the time that you spended on this.

Dithering is a good way to create details and mix two colours into one eye-deceiving illusion colour, which actually isn't a new colour. Just a simple suggestion which is worth learning. Sometimes less colours can be more, but with so minimal saturdation difference as in your palette, it's hard for eye to seperate them from each other which makes it look like a less usage of colours.

Theres always more than one lightsource, sun can be reflected from any other nearby materials eg. windows, stone or even human skin. Sometimes the hue of the material emitting light can also emit it's colour as a light hue. Sometimes a single lightsource can surround the siluette of the object, cliche example of this is a human figure standing in front of a strong lightsource.

Observing real life items and references and the acting of light and shadows around objects can help to realize that nothing in this galaxy and realm looks like your lot of pillow shaded pots. The angle here is not my speciality so here's another try of a pot in a sidescroller angle: [link]

Things such as "we left the age of snes" is not an acceptable excuse for substandard work. You seem to enjoy the creation of pixel art and getting better is propably something you would enjoy as well. For that I recommend a site called Pixeljoint, it's good for advice and inspiration.
