I've been thinking about superteams after spending too much time reading Tales to Behold while working on my NaNoMango project. Here's Absolute Unit, an ordinary man who volunteered for a clinical trial of some CRISPR-based gene modification technique. The carrier virus zigged where it should have zagged, and instead of killing off a single copy of a gene for the rare disease he feared passing on to his children, it caused him to grow into a cubical lump of muscle. Luckily, the immortal Mary Shelley took him under her wings and introduced him to Tess Durban and the rest of the team.
Absolute Unit is slow-moving but exceptionally strong. Prior to his transformation, he was a junior manager at a hedge fund firm with a taste for the finer things in life, so being turned into a one-ton brute with the face of an ogre has been rough on him.
